Slim MacSquinty Posted December 19, 2005 Report Posted December 19, 2005 Oh but this is a different Liberal party didn't you hear? They're all squeeky clean and new, they "love this country" and will fight on every street corner. Why I believe every word of it, on election day I plan on bringing the vaseline. Quote

Progressive Tory Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 Promises made, promises broken. Has anyone perused the Conservative handbook? I've yet to find one promise kept. But then this is the new squeaky clean lying party, right? Quote "For all our modesty and self-deprecation, we’re a people who dream great dreams. And then roll up our sleeves and turn them into realities." - Michael Ignatieff "I would not want the Prime Minister to think that he could simply fail in the House of Commons as a route to another General Election. That's not the way our system works." Stephen Harper.

Topaz Posted March 31, 2009 Report Posted March 31, 2009 If the present day Conseravtives, say they aren't the same party as Mulroney, then why can't the Libs say the same thing? Lately, they only want to be one of Mulroney's Tories when they talk about the Free Trade agreements. It's a new generation for both parties and the Tories have showed they are just like Mulroney's bunch and taken us into deficeit even before the global crisis . Quote

noahbody Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 If the present day Conseravtives, say they aren't the same party as Mulroney, then why can't the Libs say the same thing? The Conservative Party can say that because they are a different party. The PC party no longer exists. Quote

Smallc Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 In fairness, there's no way they could've implemented their book word for word in a minority government. Of couse, the same is true of the Liberal Red Book from 2004. Quote
Michael Hardner Posted May 28, 2011 Report Posted May 28, 2011 The specificity of the Red Book came back to haunt the Liberals, however, and much of the next few years were spent defending broken promises. The most notable of these was the Goods and Services Tax, which the Liberals had promised to replace but did not. Critics also said that the Liberals had broken their promises to increase the power of individual Members of Parliament and introducing a national childcare program. In Chrétien's view, the majority of the promises were kept. He famously argued that 78% were honoured, From Wikipedia: Wikipedia - Red Book - 1993 election Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner
Triple M Posted May 30, 2011 Report Posted May 30, 2011 Has anyone perused the Conservative handbook? I've yet to find one promise kept. But then this is the new squeaky clean lying party, right? The Tories are far from perfect but they have been pretty solid in keeping their promises or as solid as one would expect the government to be. So, to compare them to the Liberals who had majority after majority to get their agenda through is far from fair. However, to be fair to the liberals I'm relieve that once in government they were smart enough not to go through with some unrealistic or flat out bad but popular public policy. I would of probably liked to see the CPC do that with their GST promise. Quote
