Wars in Iraq, Libya, Ukraine, Serbia

Recommended Posts

I was once pro-American. I admired your Constitution.

I agreed with you against the Soviet Union, the battles in Vietnam, Korea.

=====

But I opposed your invasion of Iraq. (I was thankful that Chretien kept us out.)

Your bombing of Serbia, it was wrong. You Americans destroyed the bridges of Belgrade.

This whole history in Libya - you Americans are surely better.

=====

Several 100 Canadians died in Afghanistan to defend something great for the West, and yet you Americans screwed it up.

=====

As a Canadian, I have walked around many cemeteries in Europe.

I hope that you Americans - are not leading into us into another war.

Henry Kissinger wrote an article in The Spectator that explains better my view:

Quote

The first world war was a kind of cultural suicide that destroyed Europe’s eminence. Europe’s leaders sleepwalked – in the phrase of historian Christopher Clark – into a conflict which none of them would have entered had they foreseen the world at war’s end in 1918.

I fear that the new military doctrine is to destroy/make non functional .

Post: 1991

Serbia? No bridges.

Chechnya? Destroyed.

Post: 9 Sept 2001

Iraq? Internal mess.

Libya? Uncivilsed.

Syria? Civil war.

Lebanon? Dysfunctional.

=======

As the US has done with other places, Russia has decided that Ukraine will no longer function.

Please, I tell all you Leftist Americans.

This is not 1930s - JFK sleeping.

This is not even JFK "The Guns of August" October 1962 - how did it happen?

====

In 2023, this war is avoidable. You ordinary Americans merit better bureaucrats, leaders.

Most of the countries in the thread title were victims of regime change.  Suffered directly or indirectly at the hands of the US.

Libya and Iraq had moved away from the US petrodollar.  Yes I know the fact check BS on that.  Funny thing, now Russia is in their cross hairs, and they’ve moved away from the petrodollar too.  Weird, eh?

Funny.

Western Europe followed that same logic in the 30’s.  It turned out so, so well.

Of course if you don’t know anything about history, it’s not surprising you insist we repeat it.

Funny eh?

Have the Russians attacked NATO? No.

Try focusing on reality instead of boogymen.

This is not the logic of diplomats in the 1930s.

At present, America's elite is following the logic of European leaders in the 1910s.

Has NATO attacked Russia?  No.  We know that because there wouldn't be a Russian soldier in all of Ukraine if they did.

Moonbox,

We have a different view of the word "attack".

As I posted, I once supported the ideals of America.

IMHO, America is a successful country not because it is a large country - America is successful because it is a federation of sovereign states.

Indeed, as a Canadian, I have always been surprised how Americans speak of counties.

 There is much more to America’s success than being a federation of sovereign states.

The many wars she has been involved in are a tragedy on the American people, foisted on them with lies, propaganda and outright evil.

It is a miracle that America has lasted  as long at it has.  Its enemies have long plotted its demise.  Economics, energy and endless regulations.  Yes, some of the enemies have definitely been from within.

But take heart, the last chapter hasn’t been written yet…

Whatever your definition is, it won't stand to any scrutiny painting Russia as an aggrieved party.  ?‍♂️

I have no desire to argue in favour of any stubborn Slav.

Bulgarians lived under the Turks for five centuries; Russians under the Mongols for two.

The collapse of civilised Europe in 1914 started because of nonsense in the Balkans.

These foolish children in Washington are playing with matches.

Yet, all of this is avoidable.

Look at the stats. The US is the only large country with high GDP/person.

California is a country - like Canada. Americans don't understand the constitution of their founders.

Yes.  All we had to have happen was one country not invade the other.  ?‍♂️

The world was civilised before 1914 - on a civilised path.

And then a monocultural elite got involved in nonsense - and destroyed itself.

====

I fear that these young fools in Washington - this so-called deep-state of bureaucrats - are about to do the same in the early 21st century.

The hubris of American leftists is astounding.

They have no sense of irony.

=====

I recently read this tract written by many German intellectuals (several Nobel prize winners) in late 1914.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manifesto_of_the_Ninety-Three

Read this and weep, shed tears.

Prior to 1914, these men shared ideas, travelled abroad.

Prior to 1914, the European world was civilised - an amazing place of cities (Lemberg, Breslau, Konigsburg) where unilingual people lived beside each other - like Montreal today.

Like many Asian cities today.
