Army Guy
This topic comes up over and over in military circles, and it is coming from the top down, to the point they are telling commanders to brace themselves for hard times.. DND is barely hanging on to what they have now, but if major purchases are cancelled DND is in danger of losing more capabilities that they can not afford to lose with out risking our nations ability to defend itself or live up to its defense agreements. WestCanMan
This government would give money to Iran's military if they could find a way to take it from ours.
cannuck
Bearing in mind that it was Tur...uh...TRUdeau #1 that first gutted the military and turned it into a social engineering project. The only hope for DND is that there is so much graft and porkbarelling of military contracts into Quebec that some will be kept around to continue grease into the squeakie LPC WEels. Argus
I was reading a piece about Sir John A MacDonald and his time as PM (which I posted somewhere) and one of the points in the article was that at that time, in fear of the US, we had an army of about 50,000 men, despite our tiny population. We have nowhere near that size of army NOW - with 37 million people. In fact, the size of our overall military has been pretty much halved since Mulroney's time as PM.
