Why did Canada stop Germany and Japan for doing evil but not America?

Recommended Posts

In WW2, Canadians pride themselves for being the 1st there.

Germany during WW2:

Invaded countries,
Bombed countries,
Committed genocide against the Jews,
Colonized countries,
Murdered millions of people

And Japan pretty much did the same.

America over the years:

Invaded countries,
Bombed countries,
Committed genocide against the Natives Americans,
Colonized countries,
Murdered millions of people

But how come America is able to get away with it but Germany and Japan didn't?

Because Germany and Japan both lost the war, and Canada is very dependent on the U.S. for exports, foreign direct investment, and television programming.

Any more questions ?

Why didn't Canadians stop the British Empire from similar actions in say, the Boer War.

While Canadian troops and resources were valuable to war efforts over the years from the Boer War, to Passchendaele to Juno Beach, Canada has never been able to produce enough troops or material to stop an international power by themselves.  The last time Canada was really on par with the US was during the War of 1812.  But by the time the Civil War was over, the US had fully surpassed Canada.

Are you Canadian? If not, your opinion is null and void.

Why does his location matter? The analysis is correct, Canada has never been able to stop the US from going about and attempting to slay foreign dragons, so they haven't tried, except when America tried to invade Canada. Japan and Germany were easier targets, but if Canada had to fight them all by themselves, then they wouldn't have been stopped, not even close.

Canada didn't stop Germany in WWII, the Soviet Union did. Canada didn't stop Japan in WWII, the USA did.

You seem to have an inflated view of how powerful Canada's military is, and think that they can stop all the evil in the world if they simply wanted to, but that is a preposterous assumption that has never been the case, and will never be the case. No matter how much humanitarian pixie dust you snort in a fit of wishful thinking, that isn't going to change.

  Thank You...………………….. for admitting you have no intelligent response.

For the record, I am an American of the United States of America. I'm curious though, why are you on a political discussion forum if you don't want discussion across the political spectrum.  Are you merely seeking validation of your thoughts and biases ?

While Canada is a separate country from the US and has a distinct foreign policy, our economies are so integrated today that, if Canada tried to attack the US, a number of Canadians wouldn’t support it because they are either dual citizens or have friends and relatives across the border.  Moreover we’d be asking our US arms suppliers to ramp up production!  War would probably look more like a big university protest than a battle scene on a field.  My guess is there would be a sit in at Congress involving US Democrats and Canadian celebrities.  I think that some of the Red US states are more different from some of the Blue states politically than Canada is.  Similarly if the US invaded Canada, US forces would have a hard time occupying the country and would have no real sense of a foreign country, except in French Canada.  They would be complaining about the price of Leafs tickets and winter traffic like all the Canadians.  In winter they’d probably go to time shares in the south like many Canadians.  Occupying Canada means managing it undemocratically, which the US constitution doesn’t support.  Integrating Canada within the US would push the US further left, so Republicans wouldn’t want that.  As Canada’s population and power grows, the US may see more reason to listen to the Canadian perspective.  Until then it’s pretty much half of the US in sync with Canadian policies.

So why doesn't Canada disintegrate (or whatever the word is) themselves from this.... integration.

I remember some canucks saying "oh we shouldn't get too close to the US otherwise they might use us or if something bad happens to them, it will affect us"..... and I think they were right.

But canucks have more integrity than that man, come on.

Integrity exists in equal supply among Americans and Canadians, but the arguments spring eternal about what constitutes integrity and what is considered overreach by the various levels of government, special interests, corporate lobbyists, and morality squads.
