Ah, once again your comment is rather vague.

Why are there so many people in here who are against the rule of law and our charter?

You are imputing words that were not said.   No one is against the charter, the court ruling said nothing about payment, it never ordered a multi-million payout, or any money for that matter.  Trudeau did indeed have a choice, but as we know, it would be very inconvenient for the Liberals to acknowledge that the court left it to a gov't to determine the appropriate compensation.   In fact, a lower-court ruling did say that he appropriate compensation would be repatriation - which the previous gov't acknowledged and acted on.

Not only is Trudeau and his followers deflecting blame but they are pretending to care about saving money when their secretive, un-parliamentary actions have been nothing but spending billions outside Canada along with making a terrorist a multi millionaire.

We don't know how much it would cost to pursue it in court, but unless they hired outside lawyers it wouldn't cost us anything more than the payroll; even if it did, it would be worth it.   Trudeau has made a huge error in judgement which he will and should pay for.

Nope, the case never got to court. It was an out of court settlement.

The lower court did, and then the SCC overturned that decision. Harper fought it all the way as well.

We don't but it could have wasted a lot of court time and the compensation could have been for the suit amount.

I don't care how much court time it would've 'wasted' it would be worth it.  The S.C.  concluded that ordering the gov't to ask the U.S. for Khadr's repatriation would interfere with the govt's jurisdiction over foreign relations - so what.   He was repatriated, that's all that was necessary.

Trudeau's brand is ruined and rightly so; his legacy will be that of a PM paying off a terrorist who more than likely has Canadian blood on his hands. This is a the biggest blunder ever done by a PM which fortunately for Canada could be the end of his and the Liberals reign.

Agreed. It really speaks to the depth of his arrogance as a PM to think he could just do whatever he wants. Forget about what's right, just throw some money at it and make it go away. He must think Canadians are naive.

Perhaps this is why Justin is grooming his eight year old daughter Ella Grace for a future role in politics. She joined Trudeau's act at pride parades and this past weekend on board a train to Calgary. Expect more of the same in the months to come. We haven't seen the end of the Trudeau dynasty. Welcome to my nightmare.

It's been a while since we were treated to seeing the Prime Minister's nipples. We didn't even get a glimpse in the pride parades he attended. Well now we can gaze upon his titties as long as we wish since Iceland is now selling a t-shirt showcasing a bare chested Trudeau. How soon will we be able to buy one in Canada?

Quote

According to this shirt for sale, Canada is represented with a smoldering and shirtless Justin Trudeau with his abs, a bear, geese and a moose on it.

Now the pressing question. Should Trudeau receive royalties from the sale of the t-shirts? LOL

If you asked this question of PMJT, he would answer as he did in a recent  interview for the US Rolling Stones magazine.

http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/features/justin-trudeau-canadian-prime-minister-free-worlds-best-hope-w494098

In a speech at the UN he said "We're Canadian and we're here to help."

That's how our PM views the country. We are "helpers".

On another note, Justin recently condemned the Conservatives for raising the Khadr matter in US media. He then turns around, agrees to grace the cover of the Rolling Stones magazine along with an extensive interview. His and his team's political instincts are less than impressive.

I don't know if it was the Khadr pay-off or the Rolling Stone cover, but several people in Montreal (who don't follow politics - let alone federal Canadian politics) have asked me about him recently. For federal Liberals, don't worry. They still said he's "cute". They just wanted to know what I thought of him.

If it was not a liberal appointed judge, the kid would have lost or came out with a few hundred thousand. Now the duff is next in line to be made a millionaire for ripping the taxpayer off.

Omni you again missed the legal point of raising to the Supreme Court of Canada the issue as to whether the dirty hands doctrine and section in the constitution as to peace, order and good government could be argued to successfully establish a precedent that governments must be responsible for their wrong-doings but at  the same time any Canadian engaging in an act of wrong-doing can not personally be financially compensated for that act. You deliberately refuse to acknowledge this issue  and the legal reference was not purused as a deliberate premeditated political decision by Trudeau who openly sympathized with Kadr. Trudeau put his own feelings in front of the greater good of Canada.

Without that reference brought to the court which Trudeau should have done, not withstanding his personal bias in favour of Kadr, , and without a  ruling as to that issue, there has been deliberately created by Trudeau a wide open appearance that any terrorist whose charter rights are violated can now get personal  financial compensation. In the absence of that reference this government has sent out a message saying financial compensation was appropriate. That was not Trudeau's decision to make-it was the Supreme Court's, and without that reference, they can't initiate an answer on their own and Trudeau knew this..

You keep making the argument Trudeau didn't go for the reference because he would have had to pay more. Pay more what? He just did n t want Kadr NOT getting compensated.  It had nothing to do with fiscal prudence and everything to do with political partisanship and placating Omar Alleghbra his Middle East advisor and open Hamas and Al Quaeda supporter.

How do you argue his decision not to make the reference is based on fiscal prudence? To start with in constitutional law, nuisance value, i.e., the cost of the law suit is not and has never  been considered a reason not to make a constitutional reference, If that was the case, there would never be any. Next in very fee constitutional cases is an individual ever given compensation. In fact when it has been awarded its been for an entire group of people and often the amounts have only been symbolical or token.

It's insulting for aboriginals for example to believe after over 150 years of trying to get compensation they are owed, all Kadr had to do was commit an illegal act overseas as a terrorist then suddenly play his Canadian card to get compensation far faster than they. It is insulting to war veterans to sit now for many years if not two world wars, Korea, Serbia,  Cyprus, Rwanda-Malawi and  now Afghanistan and not get proper compensation but Kadr does. It's insulting Kadr was defined as being more worthy, i.e., entitled to more compensation then the aboriginal survivors of the reformatory system.

It's about priorities and appearance of fairness not just fiscal cost and in this case to have anybody believe Trudeau is fiscally concerned about any cost when he has placed this country in a severe debt whose interest rates are going to trigger high private loan expenses and daage the economy let alone trigger inflation and leave future generations saddled with this debt, is a joke. But hey spin away.

Yesterday Kadr whined that he has too much restrictions posted on him and he wants to be able to meet his sister alone whenever she wants. This is a woman who openly says she supports Al Quaeda and violence against Canada. This is a woman who lost her passport over 6 times and frequently travels to Egypt, Turkey and is believed to be in constant contact with terrorists and using Canada as a convenience sit to raise funds for terrorists. Oar had the audacity to say just because his sister is a terrorist doesn't mean it will influence him.

Kadr is playing this country for the joke it is. He claims he is now going  to study nursing in a college in Red Deer, Alberta. The last time he was in college he lasted a few weeks and then flunked out.

Yah right, with my luck I will end up in an old age home with Omar coming in to do the enema. Not a chance.
