Moonlight Graham Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 That's because there's a ~95% chance that Trudeau will win again. It's almost always thus. Unless he screws up big-time at some point and turns into a lazy arrogant prick like Chretien he could die in office if he wanted to. Smallc Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 "The budget will balance itself" Funny that. CIBC did a projection last yeah. Even if Canada ran deficits of $100B every year the debt to GDP ratio would stabilize - basically, the budget would balance itself. Quote

How can you believe that BS, when not so long ago....You clearly pointed out that there is No money for any military expansion....we can't afford it, there are plenty of other problem areas in Canada.....those are your quotes are they not.. ..today your saying the budget will balance itself some how magically.....even if we spent an additional 100 bil a year and solve all the nations problems..... Quote We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.
Smallc Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 I didn't say Canadians would want such a thing Quote

Yes, because economists are always right, and that math works according to you. It is errant nonsense to assume that adding 15% to our national debt per year every year is sustainable. I assumes steady, high GDP growth that won't happen, and interest rates that remain close to nil. Would you be interested in buying a bridge? Why do you hate future generations? No, he is not saying the budget will balance itself, he is saying that massive deficit spending is sustainable indefinitely. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!

I would never be for that idea, and neither would they. It was used as a point of demonstration to show that people were scared of nothing. The same people that weren't scared of Harper's $57B deficit. Quote

Is that the big deficit that came at the absolute insistence and threat of three opposition parties in the midst of the greatest global economic meltdown since the Great Depression? Trudeau did not even have an actual recession to blithely dump at least $30 billion on us. Yippie ki yay. Look, I get that you think massive deficits are meaningless. You are wrong. PIK Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 Even CBC admitted that there has never been peace between ottawa and the provinces like there was under Harper.. And now trudeau is reversing that. I will say the new slogan will be----''Had enough of Trudeau''. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
Smallc Posted September 19, 2016 Report Posted September 19, 2016 Is that the big deficit that came at the absolute insistence and threat of three opposition parties in the midst of the greatest global economic meltdown since the Great Depression? At least you can admit that the Conservatives were unprincipled. They continued the deficits well into their majority mandate. Stop revising history. Trudeau did not even have an actual recession to blithely dump at least $30 billion on us. Yippie ki yay. Look, I get that you think massive deficits are meaningless. You are wrong. That's funny, because as I recall, there was a recession last year. There was also, this year, the largest quarterly drop in GDP since 2009. Quote

Quote MultiQuote Nothing serious, since we came into this fiscal year with a surplus as agreed by the Dept of Finance and the PBO. Even if we end up with a $30 billion deficit, you realize the is less than 10% the size of Mulroney's deficits as a percent of revenue? Quote

Argus Posted September 20, 2016 Report Posted September 20, 2016 Slogans? Vote for the shiny pony again! Remember, you don't have to pay for it! Your kids can do that! Voting Liberal means never having to say you're sorry. We'll do that for you, to everyone, for everything that ever happened. Vote Liberal and we'll let your parents live here and stick the locals with the bills! Trudeau: Yeah, he doesn't know a lot, but he sure is pretty. Vote Liberal! Because a security council seat was worth a few dead soldiers! Even if we end up with a $30 billion deficit, you realize the is less than 10% the size of Mulroney's deficits as a percent of revenue? Mulroney? Ben Mulroney? What about John Turner? And Tupper- what a jerk! Slogan: "Vote Trudeau, we do not have enough drama at food banks!!!" I realize now why Trudeau has joined the Chinese puppet bank AIIB. Sooner rather than later, borrowing to finance an uncontrolled deficit from other sources is going to get difficult. So Justin borrowing $1 billion to buy shares, to borrow it back later, is prudent. It is akin to a drunk hiding a bottle of gin in the garden shed. Quote Science too hard for you? Try religion!
