Bryan Posted June 9, 2016 Report Posted June 9, 2016 Jennifer Lawrence and Oscar Issacs are probably the most marketable actors in the movie. Well except for Sansa Stark. That probably was all there was to it. The actor with he highest billing got the prime spot on the billboard. That she's such a bad-ass that she fights that monster in the movie is just a bonus. If anything, the Mystique character is guilty of excessive violence against men. https://youtu.be/FTL_kKSe8yQ Quote
Guest Posted June 9, 2016 Report Posted June 9, 2016 (edited) I'm really not exaggerating. Feminists complain all the time about lack of female representation & negative portrayal of women. There is basically zero way a poster of 1 person strangling another person would be acceptable to them. What if it was Naomi Klein strangling Margaret Thatcher? Edited June 9, 2016 by bcsapper Quote

WestCoastRunner Posted June 10, 2016 Report Posted June 10, 2016 Yep, she deserved whatever she had coming to her. This is part of the problem with violence against women. Men continue to joke about it when it is a very real threat for women. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. -1=e^ipi Posted June 10, 2016 Report Posted June 10, 2016 (edited) Strangulation by mutants is a very real threat? Of course. Men are all mutants and simply are defective women. Why else do you think we have to drug so many young boys up with ritalin in order to make them behave properly in school? Edited June 10, 2016 by -1=e^ipi Quote

If you understood the X-men world and Mystique, you'd want to keep a tight grip on her neck too. A shape shifter that can transform herself into anything. You gonna complain about violence against women when she shaped herself into Wolverine while fighting him? Part of the problem (or joke if you will) is that people cannot recognize a movie based on fiction and make an issue out of something where there is no issue. If you watched any of the X-men movies there is a lot of violence on both male and female, humans and mutants. All comic book people who know X-men understand that this is not an issue. You'd also have a problem with Deckard (Blade Runner) who gunned down female Replicants (who are not even human). Now I admit I am no comic book fan in any way, but when I hear even my female friends talk about comic book superhero stuff, the issue of violence against women is NOT discussed, because it is not an issue. Smallc Posted June 14, 2016 Report Posted June 14, 2016 They could have literally shown anything to promote the film. They chose to plaster a dude choking a woman across a giant billboard. They chose that scene, I would guess, because women love her (not sure why) and they were trying to attract some females to their male dominated audience. Quote

I have a theory that it's because she's relatively unattractive, and yet she does so well. Every woman thinks they are unattractive and wants to do well. Quote
