I think he should do an online chat roulette with random Canadians every week using a random number generator to determine who he talks to. That way it will be more representative and cheaper.

That may work for your talks about global warming, but not so much for the PM.

I guess you think Trudeau should have just declared a doubling of the price of oil, and then put the guy back to work.

What a weird comment, almost as if you didn't read or intentionally misinterpreted my thought.

So you think the go find a new job idea is more pertinent to the hang in there for your old job idea? 6 of one, a half dozen of the other. Your hangup is the reality JT took on, vis a vis what Harper ever did.

Sitting across from the premier only to have him shrug his shoulders and say "hang in there" should be embarrasing for Trudeau. Second, I couldn't give a crap about what JT will do, that Harper wouldn't, as I said, my issue is that at 5 minutes per, it didn't go deep enough.

It was the prime minister, not the premier, it was 10 minutes, not 5, and he cannot fix the oil business at the snap of a finger and get the guys job back. Perhaps what JT may do will be to open up alternative businesses instead of hitching his horse so closely to the tar sands, such as Harper did.

I guess I misspoke calling him premier - I hope you enjoy the victory. The TV show was about 5 minute segment and half of that was Mansbridge talking to Trudeau - I knew you didn't read post #48.

As I said twice - now 3 times, my issue is that I would've liked to see more time spent with each topic.

It was 10 people, 10 minutes. The whole concept was that you could ask the PM to address whatever subject you wanted. I'm not sure this will affect the rotation of the earth, but it does go to the idea that JT is a much more accessible, and certainly as intelligent as his predecessor, who would never have taken on such a task.

CBC set the format, not Trudeau. They had to fit the thing into an hour.

Another weird comment! Is somebody actually blaming Trudeau for the show being limited to an hour? You should point out who did that!

It's hard to parse the complaints. Trudeau wasn't thorough enough because it was too short is basically the complaint I was addressing.

Of course he's more accessible, that's his thing. We'll be seeing him on "Dancing with the stars" soon, and I won't give a rats arse then either, as long as he's doing his job.

Well if you don't get it. you don't get it. I'll give you a hint though, the full 10 minute interviews are, always have been, available on line. You'll find they weren't 5 minutes, all of them go a bit over the 10 minute mark. But then you're still thinking about a rats arse apparently.

They should have made the show 2 hours and had more in depth talk about those issues- why do you have a problem with that concept?

And, isn't the bolded a reportable offence. I think you should remove that - it's hurtful

Let's see, 100 minutes equals about an hour and 40 minutes by my math, correct me if I'm wrong. Would the extra 20 minutes you mentioned have gone a long way to change your opinion do you think? The depth of issues was left to the participants. Apparently you don't get the concept of a non-scripted public appearance. However if you were/are an ardent Harper supporter, I can understand that.

Well, 2 hours would've been twice as long to focus on the topics - wouldn't it?

What's with all the insults? If I said that....

2 hours is not twice as long as 100 minutes. I don't think the concept of the 10 minute meeting was supposed to supplant committee meetings. It was a nice change from the shuttered PMO under Harper.

OK, I guess somehow you missed the point - don't know how, but you did. So, The show was 1 hour (60 minutes), I have suggested that a 2 hour (120 minutes) show might have given us better information. That's all! I have no idea why that's not clear or what reason you have to argue.

I'm what one might call "indifferent". I don't think there is anything wrong with it, and I don't think there is anything special about it either. Some of you people are actually impressed with how our PM is interacting with the media. I suppose if you're in the media, it works well for ratings, but what did any of us gain - I mean really gain? What did we learn? Nothing! A bunch of canned answers - at best! At worst, we saw a leader who is somewhat unsure of how to proceed forward. Did I gain more respect or faith in him? No! Did I lose respect? Also No! Nothing happened, nothing was gained or learned.

Putin is out and about in the press a lot, Obama goes on talk shows and spends a lot of time golfing and interjects himself into issues that he should be involving himself in, Merkel is out there more than most leaders...and Harper, like most world leaders stayed a little farther back from the public. What does it have to do with their abilities to govern? Sweet FA! If you think being more accessible to press, makes a better leader, then you're simply being manipulated by the media.

Some politicians believe that the government should be seen and not heard, some think that they need to be on all the time and be parenting over the people. Do we feel better seeing Obama laugh it up on TV just hours after a person was beheaded by ISIL? Do we need to see Trudeau stutter his way through the most basic of questions? Do we feel better or worse as a country seeing him take advice from celebrities?

I don't care whether we ever see him, or if he's on the stage of "The View" doing the Tennessee shim sham with Barack and Joy. I just want Trudeau to do what so many people here think he can do.

So, yeah, as far as his approach - Indifferent!

So JT continues to answer questions to where some people are getting tired of seeing him on TV. The latest was when JT was at a Canadian University, at the pulpit, with a background of complicated mathematical formulas dealing with Quantum Physics. One reporter implied that JT, that occasional teacher, would be embarrassed speaking about anything complicated so :

Trudeau On Quantum Physics

Looks like somebody prepared JT well for this event. A reporter threw him a fast ball and he hit it out of the park. Maybe this guy is brighter than people give him credit.

Well done JT - you surprised a bunch of folks.

Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.

Interesting video.

I have not seen much of Trudeau on video as I rarely watch video news (a 20 minute tee vee news cast is not even equivalent to the front page text of a newspaper so why waste time watching tee vee news?).

He reminds me a little bit of Elon Musk: a nervous confidence.
