So you have a boyfriend and a unwed daughter with child and you sons kid lives with his mother. It is not harper's fault you family life is so screwed up. Might be time for your whole family to grow up.

And the latest sign of the desperation of the Conservative campaign is, get this, they have called in the Ford brothers to save their troubled campaign.

Unlimited economic growth has the marvelous quality of stilling discontent while preserving privilege, a fact that has not gone unnoticed among liberal economists.

You really are an outstanding example of why the Tories are in trouble.

What she said is a huge problem in this country, irresponsible people that blame the government for their problems. And that post has irresponsibility all over it.

The poster hasn't given you enough detail for you to make that determination.

Wow, that is hilarious, and equally pathetic. I reckon of course Doug is sniffing around to see how good his chances are of taking over Harper's job when the party dumps him. Maybe he will find a way to bring brother Rob along with him so he can run around bowling over opposition MP's in the House.

With Tories now in free-fall and NDP support stabilized, perhaps the election gods will serve up the final indignity - relegating Tories to third party status.

Everybody is out for themselves now a days. Nobody cares about the country , it is all about ''What is in for me" And that started with the great charter of rights, people totally abused it. And I am tired of the money wasted with irresponsible people and their actions. We are becoming the biggest welfare country in the world.

Conservative = nasty, mean-spirited, clueless, ignorant jerks.

Actually more like hard working responsible people that look after their own and not depend on the government to get you out of that hole you dug yourself in. .

No. That's not what it equals.

Now THIS is a completely dipshit thing to say. The more of this that gets written and said, the more we conservatives have to play defence because we all get labeled with it.

For what it's worth, I'd say in this instance the label you have proffered will be placed squarely where it belongs. That is to say, individually, not in general.

Neither I, nor my daughter, nor my son, nor my son's ex-wife rely on the government for handouts - we WORK, all of us. Just as you do. Those with kids DO receive child-family benefits given by EVERY SINGLE government - which rich families also recieve under the current government. My family will benefit more from Trudeau's tax breaks, and they have not benefited from Harper's; what a shame rich families won't get as much government help.

Just because you self-professed rich guys won't be getting all the government hand-outs you think you are entitled to doesn't mean the rest of us are somehow morally lacking. If you are so "responsible" and "self-sustaining", how about you return all the tax breaks you've enjoyed under Harper.

No. That's not what it equals.

And yet I hear that BS that PIK is putting out from Conservative mouths so often it's really hard to believe that isn't part of their whole philosophy. There might be a few outliers who feel differently, but the general consensus seems to be that if you don't make lots of money, you are sucking off the government teat - whilst the "richies" benefit from all kinds of tax breaks. How are people who get $5000 tax breaks in a year any less teat-suckers than people who get $1500 child benefit?
Posted

I couldn't care less if someone collects the child benefit or any other tax break, tax incentive, etc that they qualify for. Now there are examples where "sucking off the government teat" is a reality - people who pay no tax due to low income or people who sit on welfare and collect money but do nothing to pay into the system. Note that I did not say that these people are useless or scum or anything of the kind - but both those situations constitute using the "government teat". Not really debatable. And, no, I don't particularly care for the latter type of people unless there is a REAL reason they're on welfare and not just too lazy to work.

There's also one other type of person I have no use for - the one who pays nothing into the system because of amazingly good accountants. Not much use for this one either.....

And yet, the "Left" seems to have done all right over the past 10 years ... I mean, it's not like they've all died out, left the country or become unemployed, given that the "Left" appears to be about 70% of the country.

No, most people are neither Right nor Left.

But since half the country pay virtually no income taxes they'll vote for whoever pays them the most, and Trudeau is offering up the biggest bribes. It was his offers of big spending which turned this whole election around for the Liberals. His father had 14 deficit budgets and Trudeau is obviously cut from the same moldy bread.

Income tax is not the only tax, and the Tories are just as quick to hand out goodies, so spare us the anti-Trudeau rhetoric.

It does to me. Clinging to power is all that matters regardless of ethics.

Speaking of ethics...

I’ve come to admire Justin Trudeau, who could be Canada’s prime minister-designate by this time next week.

How could I not? As a student of politics for more than 40 years, how could I avoid quiet admiration for anyone who could run a campaign as sneakily unprincipled as Trudeau’s, and get away with it? Teamed with his very own master of the dark arts – a graduate of the Dalton McGuinty school of unprincipled power – Trudeau has pulled off one of the great campaigns of recent history: a flagrantly dishonest run for office, based on a pledge of honesty. It’s brilliant. If I were Hillary Clinton, I’d be consulting Gerry Butts three times a day.

Income tax is THE major tax BY FAR, and you damn well know it. You also know that his upsurge in the polls coincided with the spending spree he announced, which was so large even he couldn't lie about being able to balance the books, so instead lied about the ten billion estimated deficit (Jeffrey Simpson says $15b) would be for infrastructure, even though it's not.

So you're saying some part of what he wrote about the dishonesty of Trudeau's campaign is wrong?
