Moonlight Graham
What benefits does it give to Canada and the Canadian economy? Sounds more like a "screw you" to Russia above anything else, honestly. Quote "All generalizations are false, including this one." - Mark Twain Partisanship is a disease of the intellect. The_Squid
Yes, this is Harper attempting to have Canada as an international player that "punches above its weight".... but he has no clue how to do so. PrimeNumber
Pointless deal. Better for Ukraine than Canada. Like most deal Harper or any of our governments sign they tend to do more for the other countries involved than they do for us. One that could really benefit us, with Japan, hasn't come to fruition. Maybe because it benefits us more than them. Quote “Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find your way around or through it. Thumbing our nose at nRussia does nothing good. Well, on the one hand, punishing Russia makes some sense because they've acted like jerks. Sanctions and what not. On the other hand, isolating Russia even further and making Putin and the Russian people develop even more anti-Western sentiment can only worsen our relations thus worsening international security. Shady
Right. So we need Russia's permission to make trade deals with other countries.

-1=e^ipi
One that could really benefit us, with Japan, hasn't come to fruition. Probably because of the idiotic supply management system that the Canadian government refuses to give up.
