Should 8YO girls go topless?..should boys?

Recommended Posts

Ummm....

Ok, let's try again:

Parents do real harm to their children.

Not a peep from you on this because that type of harm is "normal."

But you can come up with the convoluted story of some creep taking pictures of bare chested kids to get off to and that needs laws to protect kids from the parents exposing their kid to the creep.

In the meantime, no kid is actually being harmed as far as we know ( unless one believes having ones picture taken steals their soul).

I'm saying go after the real harm that is actually being perpetuated against kids but is somehow justified by cultural religious "norms."

At the same time, as explained in a different post, parents should be using peer pressure or shaming to watch for creeps taking pictures to then video creeps as to then post pictures in the area asking parents to watch for this man taking pictures of children.

Likely an effective deterrent against the kind of creep you and that Canada first guy have dreamed up.

Let's also bring up the interesting case of James Rhodes, classical pianist, who had to go through the court system to tell his story of rape at the hands of a part time boxing coach:

http://www.theguardian.com/music/2015/may/20/concert-pianist-james-rhodes-wins-right-to-publish-autobiography

Interesting because his ex wife did not want to "distress" their 12 year old child with the revelation (aka truth) of the abuse that he suffered.

No doubt in this day and age of "trigger warnings" this book will likely have them.

It is a similar attitude as expressed in this thread: let's cover up and "protect" kids.

Instead of an other option of teaching kids that some people, often family members or teaches or coaches, will harm them (actual harm no less) and the only person to be ashamed here is the abuser.

It is plainly absurd to expect girls to cover up their nipples but not for boys to cover theirs. Boys get abused far too often whether the abuser ever sets first sight on their bare chests or not.

To "feel" safe because girls are forced to cover up is also absurd. To feel safe because any kids coverup is also absurd.

The argument based on the possibility that a pedophile ring trades pictures of little girls (or boys) at water parks leading to their abuse is also absurd.

If anything such pictures could alleviate abuse as these creeps get off on harmless images rather than doing actual harm to real live kids.

Of course I have no data to support such a claim but neither does the other side for their preposterous claims.

I can't believe some people actually think like this above me....just Smh. ..the politically correct have gone insane. You want the world to see your kid naked fine go for it. Just don't complain when perverts take pics of them or are staring at them. You invited it yourselves.

For me part of being a parent is that sometimes you just have to say no. You don't try to be thier friend. You be their parent. That includes saying no to them when you as the patent knows from experience what's best. It's a hard job. One that no one should take lightly.

1) topless is not naked.

2) presumably some pedophiles can get off from looking at boys nipples just as well as girls so why not the demand for boys to cover up too?

3) the political correctness on display here is the attitude that nipples need to be covered up.

4) pretending to protect a child from something that does not harm them while ignoring or covering up or hiding the truth from them is what is dangerous. Your and Hal's false sense of protection provides no protection against the likeliest source of pedophiles: in the classroom or from a coach or from an uncle or grandparent.

5) Whether such creeps see nipples or not is irrelevant to the abuse they will inflict on any unsuspecting kid.

6) a kid who is ignorant of such matters (because things must be hidden from children to "protect" them) is more likely to get abused than the kid who knows it is wrong to be touched by people.

7) we still live in a society where people are free to look and not touch. Seems like a reasonable way for society to operate.

8) And, once again, let's point out the hypocrisy about forcing girls to cover up but not boys. Why don't you and Hal care about boys too?

Given some of the arguments here, I bet these guys really worry about those Toys R Us flyers that go around too. There's gotta be some pedophiles hiding in their basements just plastering those pages together. We should ban children from appearing in flyers, just to keep them safe.

Should? Shouldn't? It should be up to the individual to decide if they want to wear a top or not; male, female or non-binary. The law should apply equally to everyone.

Nipples are useful on women and useless on men. Proof that men are just differentiated females.

Other than that, no, there is no difference.

Ask creationists why men have nipples and watch them squirm.
