The Hatchery was to be expanded to raise 6 million chum eggs in 1984 with adult returns of up to 180,000. Chum Salmon were successfully raised at the Hatchery for a few years, however, the returning chum created management problems with the Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO), and raising of chum was temporarily discontinued. Source The only problem our hatchery caused for DFO was that small boat fishermen and their community had found a way to remain viable. I'll leave it up to you to decide what's more sacrilegious - enabling a community to become viable according to it's own co-managed efforts or not submitting to the wisdom of Liberal and Conservative fisheries policies and management. Shifting the central basis of our immigration from recruiting skilled workers with the proper language skills to succeed in Canada to bringing in masses of unskilled third world relatives is going to help Canada how, exactly? And why are we increasing the numbers? What are we going to do with millions of illiterate Pakistanis, Bangladishis, Tamils, Indians and Somalians? Increasing the numbers to 1% of our population means 1.75 million of them in their first five year term. Millions of illiterate Pakistanis.... There you go down that road again that tends to elicit comments you don't like. Anyway, as already explained, we need immigration to maintain our population. Otherwise who will pay the bills when we are all needing healthcare. The NDP party lists as the first plank in their immigration platform is recognition of foreign professionals. First Corporate headquarters can be changed by little more than new letterhead, likewise, if an NDP Government makes our resources less attractive, said corporations go elsewhere.........hence why very little coal is mined today in the UK or Steel produced in the United States........or manufacturing is dying in Ontario...... You're not following the news I suppose: The Canadian Association of Oilwell Drilling Contractors has revised its January jobs forecast and now predicts nine percent more job losses -- equivalent to about 2,600 positions -- because of an expected 13 percent further drop in operating days. The association is now forecasting there will be 25,110 fewer jobs this year than last year -- a 50 percent decline in overall jobs in the sector. While the job losses will be felt most in Alberta, experts say the impact will be felt throughout the economy. No, I do follow reality, I just provided a news article stating, post Alberta NDP corporate tax increase, the rate of job losses in Alberta will increase despite an increase in the price of oil from several months ago. Oil prices are still half or so of what they were, and still fluctuating. Who knows where they are going next. But a simple math lesson goes sort of like this, pay me now, or pay me later. We like healthcare, but it has to be paid for. If we just give away our assets we end up with huge budget deficits (take a look at Harpers record) and the we just hide our eyes and pass on the debt (take a look at Harpers record) If we are seeing the eve of fossils, put up a wind far in Fort Mac before it becomes a ghost town. As examples, he said the NDP leader would “impose” a day-care model on the provinces. On climate change, he said Mulcair believes in a “made-in-Ottawa” approach that would be pushed on the provinces. “This idea of centralization has always been core to the NDP’s ethos. The fact that they have an awful lot of Quebec MPs right now, you’d think would have reduced that a bit. Of course the NDP believes in centralization Justin.....they're Socialists. Furthermore: ...he said he has “deep disagreements” with Mulcair on “many things” – such as the NDP’s promise to raise corporate taxes and its position that Quebec should be allowed to separate from Canada with a 50-per-cent-plus-one vote in a referendum. Even Trudeau understands the folly with raising corporate taxes.......And of course Mulcair has to pander to his Quebec base, as its comprised of former Bloc supporters........
