So far all we know much about is income splitting, and the experts seem to agree it is a big fail.

With voters that benefit (anyone with kids) it isn't. Neither will the other measures, such as the UCCB expansion, the doubling of the fitness tax credit, the rumoured doubling of the TFSA, and the changes to RRIFFs. Sucks to be you, I guess.

With no apparent negative motive on the part of Wright or apparent knowledge on the part of Harper. If this trial keeps on as it is (no one cares because there's nothing to care about) and the budget is as rumoured with more tax cuts and security and defence spending this election campaign is going to be bad for the opposition. Hate Harper all you want, but you have more money than in decades after tax.

I think it's a little premature to declare the trial's electoral effects a bust, or to proclaim that the budget will win the day.

Based on what we're seeing so far I'm just making predictions.

Not really, because I could afford to take advantage of the TFSA. Many cant but they get to fill the hole in revenues it creates.

These are the small potatoes charges. I think you're being very premature in declaring Harper invulnerable from collateral damage.

I'm not saying he won't be. So far, it doesn't seem to be interesting anyone.

Harper loses either way in this trial" If the crown is right he knowingly improperly appointed an ineligible senator. If the defense is right, he has even bigger problems .

But you are saying that. You're basically saying a court case that has just got under way is a bust and a budget we haven't seen yet will be triumphant.

No one seems to care about the trial thus far, and we have a pretty good idea about the budget.

By "no one" you mean who exactly? How have you determined this?

And yes, we have some ideas about the budget, but not all of them. Voters have not seen, for instance, what the Tories will need to cut to make further balanced budgets work; just a commitment to the second most worthless kind of legislation out there; balanced budget legislation.

By no one I mean no one. No one talks about it and it doesn't show up in polls in any meaningful way.

CBC TV hammers away at it relentlessly, but of course very few Canadians watch CBC.

I'm sure the media loves it. I've never seen the population care so little about a "scandal".

Both points say more about the CBC than anything else......

Surely you must see the irony of proclaiming multiple times a day how nobody cares about a particular topic.

I remember Liberal supporters declaring the same thing as the Gomery Inquiry steadily tore the Martin government to pieces. "Oh, only the media cares about that!"

Is there some sort of partisan book of handwaving that gets passed around every time a government or party hits some sort of scandal? And is the first chapter entitled "Frequently Assert Complete Voter Apathy"?

Boy, as was already pointed out, you really are naive.

Get a grip on reality. You're not naïve but you've made it clear - over and over again that you are just a shallow fellow with a hate-on for Harper. NOBODY is talking about Duffy. I'm a member at a tennis club - middle-class to upper-class clientele. I socialize with several groups that comprise perhaps 50 or 60 people. We don't sit around talking politics but every now and then something might pop up - and I've never heard one peep about Duffy. Nobody at the office either. It's pretty well invisible to everyone except the CBC.

So your super-scientific anecdotal poll says nobody cares. Well, color me impressed.

Maybe when you get away from the tennis club you will find out different. Talk about shallow! Of course most people dont have the time to follow the trial on a day to day basis, but I do at the moment and I find I am getting questioned regularly as to what happened today. People are tired of this kind of hand in the cookie jar stuff, and they want to know just how high up it goes. Good to go.... for what.

As their poll numbers fell and fell. If that starts to happen, you'll have a point.

Well maybe their momma's told them it isnt polite to talk about religion nor politics in public or at dinner ?

Probably tru.....hey wait a sec.

A simple Google shows.....

National Post

Toronto Star

Huffington Post

Ottawa Sun

Toronto Sun

Globe And Mail

Maclean's

Ottawa Citizen

Winnipeg Press

Chronicle Herald

CPOnline

Global

Sackville Tribune

Hill Times

Hamilton Spectator.....

Should I go on or does that blow the stupid partisan idea (and of course the tony Tennis Court ladies) that "It's pretty well invisible to everyone except the CBC."

Rhetorical question by the way, its how it seems to work here on MLW

Has Johnnie Cochran been spotted yet, as a member of the crack Duffy legal team?

Yes I know he is dead but he makes an outstanding hologram. And an intimidating cardboard cutout.
