Like I said, hilarious.

I bet you that's what the Koreans thought. He probably changed all the pictures of ex-korean leaders to ones of himself too. The cult of personality runs deep in Supreme Leader Harper.

“Be like water making its way through cracks. Do not be assertive, but adjust to the object, and you shall find your way around or through it. If nothing within you stays rigid, outward things will disclose themselves. Empty your mind, be formless. Shapeless, like water. If you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup. You put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle. You put it into a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now, water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”

Ok I really am trying to understand where you're coming from. Do you sincerely believe that Canada is a fascist country like Franco's Spain or Nazi Germany?

Don't forget Mussolini's Italy.

OTTAWAConservative enmity for unelected judges is well-known and longstanding.

... even if most of the so-called elites are Stephen Harper appointees.

But the Conservatives have now shown themselves willing to make amends with a judiciary with whom it has often been warring, as long as that judiciary can be used to circumvent parliamentary and civilian oversight of an anti-terror bill.

I am under the impression that CSIS only goes to the Court if they 'think' something might be illegal/unconstitutional.

Are CSIS agents experts in determining that?

Does it matter to them?

If they're not collecting evidence, just 'disrupting ' by detaining and interrogating people in advance of a suspected ... oh say a pipeline blockade ... why would CSIS bother with warrants?

And of course, any requests for warrants must have Ministerial approval.

What (prime) Minister would that be?

Will he send anything to the courts if he thinks they may not agree with him?

I smell a set up... when the SCC round files the Harper State's requests to do whatever it wants he'll be able to accuse the court of being with the Jihadis just like anyone else who opposes him.

And suddenly, you don't trust them. That's even more strange.

I trust the high courts.

But I don't believe Harper/CSIS has any intention of using them.

They don't need warrants for 'disruption'.

People should be working to make the country better not weaker. We should be coming together to support our government not constantly looking for ways to undermine it. I dont understand the constant complaining with everything the PM does. Are people here really this partisan?

Luckily for Canada, Canadians are not pablum eaters. We dont just all join hands ad support the government, just because they are the government. What do you prefer, Communism...

I remember when they cheered for the patriot act. It is a sad state of affairs when laws like this are passed or when we feel they need to be.

Really not a fan of taking away peoples rights at anytime. We always here about the bad calls after the fact (The G20 police state) Peoples rights are being trampled and with a shrug life goes on.

And as has been stated various times, we already have substantial laws on the books in this regard. As much as Harper wants to rave on, I dt really feel any fear from the boogeymen he wants us to panic about.

I don't hold much hope. This is what Harper will be remembered for. The day Canada bent to the will of the Muslim Extremists. We are playing right into their pocket, just like the US did.

And Harper has limited it to 3 days of discussion and of course the first day taken up by his justice minister. So much for any expert weigh in. She,s a done deal. Another Harper omnibus rammed down our throat Wot be the last Im sure.

Very bad legislation for Canadians.

If you don't have evidence of a crime butt out.

Extra judicial non criminal detention is a human rights violation for gods sake.

The measures are a clear violation of arbitrary arrest and detention measures of the charter, the act is conspiracy to forcible confinement without lawful excuse.

These crooks should be the ones in jail.

Other sections are conspiracy to criminal harassment and fraud.

I have recently developed a website to enable people to express their opinions and weigh in on subjects important to Canadians in the context of their backgrounds and political views. One of the first subjects for discussion is Bill C-51. I have written a short essay/blog that concludes that Mr. Harper needs to be doing a lot more explaining regarding how this bill will effect us from the perspective of benefits versus cost in dollars and freedoms. If you would like to express your opinion please go to http://www.vote-canada.ca/bill-c-51/ Your participation and feedback will be greatly appreciated.

Violence and lawbreaking will get you nowhere in a democracy, except in jail, where you belong.

Violence and law breaking are the only things that got anyone anywhere in our democratic societies. The American Revolution? The Rebellions of 1837? Prohibition era rum running? Rosa Parks? Pot? Gay marriage?

Our entire history is based on change effected by violence and lawbreaking.

It was dropped because thousands of us phoned in because of the idiotic comments.

Yet you want to talk about a specific incidence of the government dropping a bill from the House. *smh*

Sorry, that doesn't amount to much in the face of mountains of evidence that violence and law breaking are major effective means to social change.

Won't that look a bit stupid considering he appointed most of them?

This burns me.

Harper shows his colours on this one. What is he afraid of?

Bull. That's not the way Canada especially has operated for a very long time. That has no place here.

It worked in Clayoquot Sound. Roads were blockaded, bridges were burned and despite daily mass arrests.....it worked.

This is how Canadians roll.

The police should've surrounded the nearby reserve and not allowed anyone to leave or enter until they learn to behave themselves. create open air prisons. If the Native people cannot behave themselves in our society they should be removed from it and kept on their reserves. Maybe that way the rest of us can get on with our lives.
