WestCoastRunner Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 A manuscript that Harper Lee wrote in the 50's about the character 'Scout' from 'To Kill A Mockingbird' will be published soon and I can't wait to get the book. Most definitely 'To Kill A Mockingbird' book and film were right up there as my all time favourites. The synopsis of the book: "Watchman" is set in the 1950s and is about Scout -- Jean Louise Finch -- returning to her hometown of Maycomb, Alabama (a fictional version of Lee's hometown of Monroeville), to see her father, the upright lawyer Atticus Finch. "She is forced to grapple with issues both personal and political as she tries to understand her father's attitude toward society, and her own feelings about the place where she was born and spent her childhood," the press release said." BTW, she is now 88 years old and this book will be only her 2nd book to be published. Unbelieavable! Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. Michael Hardner Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 They should call it, To Kill a Mockingbird 2: The Electric Boogaloo. Not bad, Boges, but a play on words with "Electric Boogaloo" would make this joke Daily Show-worthy. Quote Click to learn why Climate Change is caused by HUMANS Michael Hardner

Mighty AC Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 They should call it, To Kill a Mockingbird 2: The Electric Boogaloo. I was pretty young but I can remember watching Breakin' 2 with an older cousin and thinking it was the worst movie ever. He also had the Comodore 64 game, now that was cool. Guest Posted February 4, 2015 Report Posted February 4, 2015 I agree. Great book, great movie. Stunning revelation that the upcoming "sequel" was actually written before TKAM and was lost. No wonder she gave up on writing. Quote
Big Guy Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 I too am looking forward to the release date. I am usually an optimist but I suspect that there was a reason why this book was not published. Most authors write numerous stories and books before they are able to produce something noteworthy. TKAM was a very worthwhile read and even a better movie (my opinion only) and I hope that it reaches the expectations. I do not know how a novel written before TKAM could reach the same standard as that book. Quote Note - For those expecting a response from Big Guy: I generally do not read or respond to posts longer then 300 words nor to parsed comments.
AngusThermopyle Posted February 5, 2015 Report Posted February 5, 2015 I'm a big fan of the looooong comeback. That said, I haven't read the original or seen the film. Maybe it's time ? A must see. Every time its on TCM I watch it. Also Guess Who's Coming To Dinner, you can't beat Sidney, Spencer and Kathryn, really shows the remake to be the stinkin pile of garbage that it was. Also Rear Window, Jimmy doing his thing so well. Oh, and The Hill too, early Sean and a great story. Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye
sharkman Posted February 6, 2015 Report Posted February 6, 2015 TKAMB was one of my all time favorites, along with a little known classic called Red Sky at Morning(Hal Wallis). I am definitely going to be buying the new book, it's like a lost treasure being found. Quote
