On Guard for Thee Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Then I take it back - it still hasn't sunk in. The old program ended - as Martin planned. You can't "cut" a program that doesn't exist......nor can a minimum 3% year-over-year increase be viewed as a "cut" no matter how your anti-Harper rhetoric tries to so ineloquently spin it. A new program is now in place - and it's permanent. Math is still not your strong suit obviously. The new program is not yet in place actually, and once again, nothing is ever permanent. Quote
eyeball Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 The question was posed to you. Do you think he meant it to be 6% forever? What's your opinion of why he didn't say that? Why shouldn't we expect it to increase right alongside a growing and aging population? Why would any politician want to pretend otherwise? Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
-1=e^ipi Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Why shouldn't we expect it to increase right alongside a growing and aging population? Alongside economic growth, maybe. Aging, well you need young working people to support it. A demographic time bomb is coming, I don't think it is helpful to pretend otherwise. Quote
Smallc Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 The new program is not yet in place actually, Care to expand on that? Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Care to expand on that? Simply because the Paul Martin accord doesn't end until 2016. Quote
Smallc Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Simply because the Paul Martin accord doesn't end until 2016. Try again. Paul Martin's accord already ended. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Try again. Paul Martin's accord already ended. Try again, Harper extended it until 2016/17 fiscal year. Quote
Smallc Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Try again, Harper extended it until 2016/17 fiscal year. Exactly. It's the Harper program now. Credit where credit is due, eh? Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Exactly. It's the Harper program now. Credit where credit is due, eh? No, it's Martin's program. Harper is going to kill it and launch his program to cut it to a minimum of 3% based on a silly yardstick of gdp and inflation. Quote
Smallc Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 No, it's Martin's program. The program was set to expire. Martin didn't extend it. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 The program was set to expire. Martin didn't extend it. Martin is not the PM anymore in case you missed it, Harper extended Martin's plan. Quote
Smallc Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Martin is not the PM anymore in case you missed it, Harper extended Martin's plan. Martin's plan expired. Harper extended the same numbers. It's not Martin's plan anymore. Quote

On Guard for Thee Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 Martin's plan expired. Harper extended the same numbers. It's not Martin's plan anymore. Harper's plan is to slowly gut public health care (to do it up front would be political suicide in this country) and then allow private insurance firms to take over. Ad then we end up with a shitty system, ala the US system, and a lot of money flowing into Harper's buddy's pockets. Quote

This entire thread has mostly been an incredibly stupid conversation about semantics, but yea, how can you be taken seriously by anyone, anywhere, while spewing nonsense like that? There is of course no evidence anywhere of that, this forum would be greatly improved if some of you were simply ignored, always, even for you, this is an incredibly stupid post. Quote

What kind of boots do you think Harper gets from padding his buddies' pockets? There has to be some private payoff beyond party donations. I'd like to get a look at his stock portfolio ... correction ... his wife's stock portfolio. Politicians' 'personal gains' while in office should be open to public scrutiny. . Harper has always been pretty clear that he hates public health care. And he is a devious bastard. He thought he was going to trick seniors into giving up Martin's promised funding in 2008 but they threatened to vote NDP en masse. I think he'll lose the seniors' votes this time around. . Quote

He also has a good buddy, (name escapes me at the moment) who is one of the past lieutenants of the NCC who also, conveniently, runs a private for profit health care insurance business. Might make for a cushy, post politics, seat on the board perhaps. Quote
Keepitsimple Posted July 28, 2015 Report Posted July 28, 2015 This thread has deteriorated from the original topic of the self-destructing Liberals joining with the NDP in a formal or not so formal coalition - and the advantages therein. Instead, the usual suspects have gone on their comical, indecipherable anti-Harper rants. Too funny. Quote Back to Basics
