bush_cheney2004 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 So let me guess. These protests across the country tonight consist of individuals who are all 'left leaning' citizens and not of individuals seeking a justice system that represents all races with equal rights. That depends....are they burning down buildings and looting stores in peaceful protest ? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
WestCoastRunner Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 That depends....are they burning down buildings and looting stores in peaceful protest ? It doesn't depend on the action of others. This decision affects all minority citizens across the rest of the country. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. The conversation in this thread will go where its participants take it. Many of us don't see the injustice that some of you seem to be looking for with this particular case. Quote
Smallc Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Hey, overthere, perhaps it is you with the blinders if you don't get how tainted the whole thing looks with Bob McCulloch as chief prosecutor. You know, the guy who's father was shot and killed by a black man in '64. That's a real stretch. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 The DoJ should be able to provide an unbiased investigation into the issue although the departure of Eric Holder may affect that. Quote

Smallc Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 The DoJ should be able to provide an unbiased investigation into the issue although the departure of Eric Holder may affect that. According to inside sources speaking to the Washington Post, no federal charges are likely to be pursued. Quote

Many of us don't see the injustice that some of you seem to be looking for with this particular case. This is exactly what I mean. "some of you". We have protestors across the U.S. tonight that no one can ignore. Does that give you any indication at all that something is seriously wrong with the decision of the grand jury? Many don't see the injustice but perhaps that is an issue that needs to be dealt with. Why don't 'many of us' not see the injustice when so many others do? Smallc Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 It's only a stretch if you don't know the facts. It's a stretch to say that everyone sees things in terms of colour. Someone killed his father in the past. It doesn't matter what colour they were. Quote

Many people will of course ignore the protestors. I am not a u.s. citizen so I cannot pick my battles on this one. However, I can state my thoughts on this issue. And this is one that I will certainly voice my opinions. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou
On Guard for Thee Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 The background of who killed your father wouldn't matter to you? Now that's a naive stretch! I'll just about guarantee you it matters, especially in the states. Quote

I'll just about guarantee you it matters, especially in the states. My father was taken hostage at gun point and beaten by an aboriginal man. On another occasion, he was beaten with a 2x4 by 3 aboriginal men. His line of work was, in the past very dangerous. My fiancee is aboriginal and I love her very much. How can I do that? Quote
sharkman Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 What's unfortunate is that the parents of Michael Brown are subjected to comments like 'the death of a troubled youth'. As far as I can tell, Michael Brown was a graduate of a college, and was experimenting with rap music, including writing his own lyrics. Is there any indication that he was a troubled youth? He seemed to me to be just like any other teenager grappling with teenage angst (regardless of his size). Yeah, just like any teenager robbing stores and bitch slapping any clerk that tries to stop him. Any teenager stopping traffic by walking down the middle of the road, attacking a cop when challenged to get his ass off the road, I can see why you think so highly of him. Get real. Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 It doesn't depend on the action of others. This decision affects all minority citizens across the rest of the country. Nope....how patronizing. The decision to not bill an indictment does not affect all "minority citizens" in the country, or the non-minority ones either. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Smallc Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Bob McCulloch had no intention of seeking charges. He did not recommend any charges and he basically pulled the puppet strings on this grand jury inquiry. And why do you think that is? Perhaps because he didn't think any were warranted? Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 Nope....how patronizing. The decision to not bill an indictment does not affect all "minority citizens" in the country, or the non-minority ones either. I am not being patronizing. You need to take a look at the protests across your country. The decision made yesterday in Ferguson certainly affects a minority and you know it. Smallc Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 The protests are actually rather irrelevant to the situation. Quote
On Guard for Thee Posted November 26, 2014 Report Posted November 26, 2014 I would assume you can do that because she has a character that appeals to you in a strong way, and that you have a strength of character of your own which allows you to rise above the previous events you have mentioned. And that's uplifting to hear. However in the Brown case, I just think it would have been quite easy for McCulloch to recuse himself and remove the doubt that perhaps he may still have an axe to grind. Quote

The decision made yesterday in Ferguson certainly affects a minority and you know it. Do tell...from Canada. I watched our fun copy-cat protests in Minneapolis tonight....so cute. "Minorities" are far more diverse and complex than you give us credit for. A peeved motorist actually ran over a few protesters.
