The average law-abiding Canadian of the 70's and 80's is about as responsible as the average citizen of any country with similar human rights abuses.

I honestly have no idea what this even means.

I don't understand why people are upset about becoming "minorities". What difference does it make if you are a "minority", why are people unhappy about it?

As we've already pretty much established, people like to be, by and large, around people who are like them, who they can relate to, communicate with, etc.

]World-class companies value their employees as people - not just "commodities".

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL!

The only reason 'world class companies' don't have slavery, completely with overseers and whips, is it's illegal.

Would you call Amazon a world class company? It outsources the vast majority of people who work for it to agencies which fire people at the drop of a hat and pay minimal incomes with minimal benefits. UBS fired five thousand people without notice. Loyds fired 15,000 and HSBC 30,000, all in the name of increasing profits. Samsung and Apple outsource most of their supplies to China.

World class corporations don't give a shit about their employees.

In the long run, the interests of employees and owners (immigrants and Canada) are complementary not competing.

Not necessarily. If the interest of the immirant is simply to escape a miserable life and into one better that's fine, but if they're unable to produce economically then their interests and that of Canadians is opposed. They get a better life, while Canadians get another underperformer who costs more than he's worth.

]A company would never rule out a candidate based only on their university.

In order to rule out a candidate, the candidate would first have to be considered. Some companies recruit only from the top schools. Oh, if they can't get enough then they're willing to look lower down.

Yes we can improve selection - just not the way you suggest.

How then?

We can also improve integration. One way to do this would be to be more welcoming to new Canadians.

Hard to do if they don't speak English and live and work in places away from Canadians.

That still doesn't change the fact that they're separating themselves from Canadian society.

They ARE Canadian Society. And further, they are not separating anything.

And again, you are a funny guy when your country has millions upon millions speaking another language other than English.

In Miami? Jewish neighbourhoods of NY? S Cali ?

They may be able to speak English or French well enough to pass immigration's rather lax standards. That doesn't mean they have insinuated themselves into the culture.

Yea...they know enough English to pass immigration canada's lax standard.

On the other hand, they know enough English to get pass in the Brokers School and pass a very very diffulcult exam to be granted a Profession designation as an Insurance Professional.

I suppose if they couldnt pass English they could always be a lawyer somehwere.

Who is Angus?

Not sure why you would call me out on this. You obviously knew I was referring to Argus and you also probably knew it was a typo error? But, that's ok. Whatever makes you feel good!

Obviously? No. I wouldn't have asked. You repeated it several times, so I thought there was an Angus. Edited by cybercoma

I've said this before and I'll say it again, the world is going to have to right itself sooner or later. People are not going to standby forever watching us get richer, expoloitng their resources. I fully admit I have been a part of that process, although I didn't get rich. (At least not Exxon Mobil kinda rich). But I was certainly enrichened by being able to travel through every continent, well except antarctica, and I'll leave that for another life. Bring on that multiculturism, I want a really good shwarma.

The pro-Palestinian demonstration in Canada just outside of Calgary’s city hall on July 18, was really an anti-Israel/anti-Jewish hate rally. Just as before at the protest in Toronto two weeks prior, the “peaceful” protest turned violent when Canadian Palestinians and their supporters attacked the Jewish and pro-Israel demonstrators who were there to support the Jewish State, which is in the midst of Operation Protective Edge to put an end to the ongoing and senseless violence Israelis have endured at the hands of Arab terrorists.

There were reportedly over 1000 participants with only three police officers to maintain the peace, which proved a difficult task. Cara Lebenzon explains in her article at The Times of Israel:

“About fifteen pro-Israel protesters from the Calgary Jewish Community as well as some Christian Zionist supporters showed up at city hall and were savagely attacked by mobs of angry protesters, most of which were young Arab men. The pro-Israel crowd did not instigate anyone, they did not provoke the other side by using violence or inciting hatred. They chanted pro-Israel messages of peace and got thrown to the ground, punched in the face multiple times and brutally beat up for being Jewish and supporting the Jewish State. Among the victims of this attack was a brave young woman who advocates for Israel at the University and inspires many students and young people in Calgary to stand up for Israel. Her and her mother were viciously attacked, punched in the face and hit in the stomach by these raging protesters. Another young man was dragged across the street by the flag of Israel tied around his neck. Some of his friends were also jumped and punched in the face multiple times, as the perpetrators of violence yelled things like ‘Hitler was right’…” Read on…

IMO It is destroying a great beautiful country.

So we're bad for working together, for having governments that are relatively free of corruption, for sending our kids to university to learn engineering instead of, say, studying the bible all day long, for building roads and bridges and dams and power plants and building up industry?

If there were 1,000 people at that rally, I'll eat my hat.

So, with that basic error of fact there, what else are they inventing?

Well, from the videos, they're not inventing that the Muslims attacked the Jews.

Then again, that is their tradition...

No, we're bad for letting our governments work with dictators and monsters when exploiting other people's resources to do the above.

Actually we're worse than bad because we should know better.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

The video initially shows one guy grabbing one of the pro-Israel people's flags and after the ensuing scuffle, he's held back by his fellow pro-Palestinian protesters. Later we see the guy with the Israeli flag and the blue T-Shirt confronting a group of protesters, turn around and shove one of the people behind him, a scuffle ensues and both are pulled apart by their respective sides. Some "mob".

The guilt people have is amazing, the reason we are so successful is because of hard work and not being religious fanatics. Israel is a great example what can happen when people pull together and work hard to build something. Get rid of the religious BS and get to work. IMO If Israel was not built, the people in that region would probably still be living the same way. I can't for the life of me figure out why people will not take off the blinders and look at what is really happening over there. The palistines are pawns of the arab countries to keep their hatred of jews alive and well. When you look at groups like the queers against Israeli apartied who support people that will kill them the minute they land on their ground ,where gay arabs have to go to Israel to live. It is mind boggling. I wish people would be more honest and just come out and say we hate jews. Disgusting how canadians have become so hateful.

Well, to be perfectly honest, what's really hateful is how mind-boggled so many Canadians have become.

You want us to ignore 90% of the planet because the local government doesn't have our appreciation for human rights?

Seems to me when the West tried to avoid doing business with Iraq under Sadaam hordes of folks were screaming about how we were responsible for lots of people dying in Iraq.

Every country has its fanatics. However, Israel's population is less religious than many Western nations, including the US, Austria, Italy, and Portugal:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Importance_of_religion_by_country

It is also vastly less religious than its neighbors, most of which fall at the very far extreme of the religiosity rankings.

Israel's fanatics have a disproportionate amount of political power and influence, though, both within Likud and through the minority parties in the Knesset the governing party depends on for power.

Proportional representation and a fractured parliament with dozens of parties means even tiny religious parties with a few MPs wield power way out of proportion to their actual support in the population.
