Boges Posted September 11, 2014 Author Report Posted September 11, 2014 Easy there...nobody is going to take away your smartphone. I merely suggested that the walking dead may find some utility in a wrist worn extension of their pacifier...err...smartphone. I have learned to accept heated conversations coming from the adjacent rest room stall while I give birth to another smartphone. Imputing information on one of these things would still prove to be difficult. It's more a method of reading your push notifications without having to take the phone out. What's the temperature out? Don't have to take my phone out to know, it's on my watch! Quote
Boges Posted September 11, 2014 Author Report Posted September 11, 2014 I conduct business away from my office/laptop. I need my smartphone! Way to enforce the stereotype that people are addicted to these things. Business seemed to be done without people being on the clock 24/7 before. Quote
AngusThermopyle Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 From what I've observed and what many whom I asked have answered the vast majority do not conduct buisness on their phones. Further to that studies have shown the vast majority use them for meaningless low grade entertainment such as video's of people doing stupid things that get them hit in the balls. Welcome to Idiocracy. No meaningful business can really be done on a smartphone. If you have a busy schedule a smartphone can help you with that. I think tablets are actually more meaningful business tools than smartphones. Quote
cybercoma Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Do you conduct business every waking minute ? In the parking lot....elevator.....restaurant.....restroom....park....doctor's office....driving...etc. ??? Yes. And so do a lot of others. Quote

Mighty AC Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 I use a smart phone for work and thus get numerous notifications of texts, emails, calendar reminders, etc. I also get personal notifications for the same services along with social media updates. It would certainly be convenient to leave the phone in my pocket and just glance at my wrist to see if notifications are important or ignorable. That convenience alone likely isn't enough for me to wear an ugly, expensive watch. However, when NFC services like payments and door locks are common I will most definitely use one. Mighty AC Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 You don't need a watch to utilize those things. It would just be another convenience. Along with skipping the physical phone log in if the watch is close enough.
