Boges Posted July 2, 2014 Report Posted July 2, 2014 Still in 1st place and it is July. Just barely. Don't make this the official Jays thread, just thought I'd make the comparison. I'll say this though, they're 1 up today on Baltimore. If they can reach the Allstar Break (10 games on the road against Oakland, LA Angels and Tampa) Then anyone who doesn't think they're for real can STFU. Quote
Boges Posted July 4, 2014 Report Posted July 4, 2014 So what of the Jays wearing Canada Day hats on the 4th of July. Does that offend? Quote

Black Dog Posted September 11, 2014 Report Posted September 11, 2014 Are you one that would have been spitting at and cursing at the troops on return from Vietnam? You mean he's a myth too? jbg Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 You mean he's a myth too? That wasn't a myth. At that time I was still a McGovernite and believed in getting out of Vietnam unconditionally. I still believe we shouldn't have been in that war. The harassment of returning veterans was stomach-turning. My (then recently deceased) father fought in Korea in the U.S. Navy. Jeering at returning soldiers is about as low as one can go. guyser Posted September 16, 2014 Report Posted September 16, 2014 (edited) That wasn't a myth. .Spitting at returning soldiers is a myth. Did it happen? Probably once or twice, but it is a myth that Soldiers were spit on. Funny how no reports in papers, nothing concrete, but once we moved into the 1980's it seems everyone recalls it happening. Only problem is, it didnt. Jeering at returning soldiers is about as low as one can go.Why? Some people felt it was a dumb war and no one should go, so they voiced their opinions. Dont worry though, plenty of soldiers beat up hippies, so lets call it a wash. Edited September 16, 2014 by Guyser2 Quote

Timesmachine.times.com is pretty good. I distinctly remember hearing about it on the radio during the spring of 1973. Your country's Gordon Sinclair may have made some reference to it as well.
