About 2,000 workers clocked in on Monday, but did not work, at the Yue Yuen factory complex in Jiangxi province, southern China, joining at least 10,000 employees at another Yue Yuen factory complex in Dongguan, Guangdong province, who have been on strike since 14 April. Up to 30,000 employees have stopped working in the strike – China's largest in recent memory, according to the New York-based non-governmental organisation (NGO) China Labour Watch. http://www.drapersonline.com/news/strikes-spread-at-adidas-and-nike-supplier-in-china/5059593.article#.U10IL_ldWo0 Up to 30,000 workers have stopped working in the largest strike in China in recent memory, according to reports. Chinese authorities have deployed riot police and warned strikers against gathering at the factory. The articles mention employers not paying promised wages, allowances and benefits, but also competition from other lower-cost countries. From 'The Guardian' article. The workers fear the factory may close as international companies have begun moving their manufacturing to lower-cost countries as wages in China continue to increase. GostHacked
But I was told that moving production to these countries would help elevate them out of poverty. If stuff is being offshored from China to other poorer nations, you know something is rotten, and it's not just in China. The only reasons China is a player, lax environmental laws, and lax labour laws with low pay. Foxcon's solution to suicide jumper off it's building was to build nets around the building. They don't care about the employees.

overthere
The inevitable result of this is that a whole bunch of manufactuirers in China will be looking- oh the irony- to move offshore with their operations, to reduce labour costs.. Might be a good time to buy infrastructure in Africa. Oh wait, there isn't any. There will be soon.
