.I wasn't sure whether to post on this real-life tragedy of not (link to news story, excerpts below).

What is interesting, based on other parts of the story that I did not quote, that ordinary Iraqis thought it was funny, and were gloating. Death should never be celebrated.

Suicide Bomb Trainer in Iraq Accidentally Blows Up His Class
By DURAID ADNAN and TIM ARANGO
FEB. 10, 2014

BAGHDAD — If there were such a thing, it would probably be rule No. 1 in the teaching manual for instructors of aspiring suicide bombers: Don’t give lessons with live explosives.
In what represented a cautionary tale for terrorist teachers, and a cause of dark humor for ordinary Iraqis, a commander at a secluded terrorist training camp north of Baghdad unwittingly used a belt packed with explosives while conducting a demonstration early Monday for a group of militants, killing himself and 21 other members of the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria, army and police officials said.

Iraqi citizens have long been accustomed to daily attacks on public markets, mosques, funerals and even children’s soccer games, so they saw the story of the fumbling militants as a dark — and delicious — kind of poetic justice, especially coming amid a protracted surge of violence led by the terrorist group, including a rise in suicide bombings.

Just last week a suicide bomber struck a popular falafel shop near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs here, killing several people. On Monday evening Raad Hashim, working the counter at a liquor store near the site of the attack, burst out laughing when he heard the news.

While some may think, based on other posts that I am laughing at these people,I am not. They are, fortunately or unfortunately, fired up with hate at an early age. They probably, really, cannot help themselves.

I am going to say that this story is fake.

Did you read the New York Times link? The New York Times is as pro-Arab and left-wing as it gets in the U.S. of A.

Well clearly JBG if the New York Times is as pro Arab and left wing as it gets in the US you should try read the Toronto Star or Toronto Globe and Mail.

On a more serious note terrorism is entrenched right now in the Middle East as a means of political expression and the trendy left wing ignores it. They won't speak of it, analyze it, or acknowledge its presence. They will select out the US and Israel for criticism and then argue well they can remain silent on terrorists because there are two standards, one for Israel-Us and one for the countries that harbour them and promote them making the argument since the US and Israel claim to be democracies and the others don't this justifies the double standard.

You have read it on this board repeatedly.

On this board we can accuse Israel of being an evil Zionist nation, then state Zionism needs to be wiped out like a cancer and then argue in the same breath this doesn't mean this position calls for the wiping out of Israel

As long as we put the word "Zionist"or "Zionism" or "American" in, somehow all logic is suspended and the double standard of anything Israeli or American being evil and terrorism being ignored kicks in,

You see it vividly on this board.Wiping out Zionism as a cancer is presented as a reasonable exchange of opinion when discussing Israel.

Imagine the leftist trendy response if I came on this board and said the same about Sharia Law using that exact same logic...

I have always said be careful when we criticize terrorism and I mean you, me, all of us and not in a patronizing way, because if we criticize all Muslims when doing it, we are no better than the terrorists and the people on this board who remain silent to it and the injustices of Sharia law.

Sharia law and Muslim fundamentalist extremism fuels Middle East terrorism but I again argue it imprisons its own people and kills them more than anyone else.

What I worry about now JBG is that I think Obama has been a miserable failure with foreign policy. I believe he created a vacuum from his weakness that has enabled Putin to move in and recapture Saudi Arabia and Egypt as pawns and is able to destroy the Ukraine through his puppets as the Olympics continues.

Whether you and I like it or not, without a stong US foreign presence, terrorism and leaders like Putin thrive without interference or restraint.

As for the b.s.double standard and trendy leftists who take their own privileges and freedoms for granted and do not realize they came at a cost the irony is that they do not and will never understand the terrorists hate them most of anyone on this planet. They find their alleged sympathy for their cause beneath their contempt.

In the world of trendy leftism, the primal evil in humanity is always explained as the terrorist being a victim-they romanticize terrorists as misunderstood victims.

Well I didn't see in anything in the article when I skimmed it about the age of the students, so they could have all been adults as far as we know. This is an oddly positive development since it almost certainly saved lives in the end.

Hope it's true. Love it when a bomber blows themself up by mistake.

Yes. But he took with him constructive, top-flight intellectual talent; his students.
