True only if Texas is in China. Nice try....

Let's see...you had Bush (well what more needs to be said) and under him you had Cheney (well what more needs to be said) and under him you had Rumsfeld (who had trouble stringing a sentence together) and then Wolfowitz, who claimed the Iraq war would be "self financing once the oil begins to flow". Hah, he was only out by a few billion! And then he goes to the World Bank. You couldn't make that shit up. And I think it's safe to say there won't likely be any forthcoming proceeds from Afghanistan's mineral wealth either. Yet another failed attempt at world dominance. Maybe learn to stay home.

I expect time served was taken into account in his sentencing.

Iraqi oil is all subcontracted to Bush`s Texas oil buddies.

Afghanistan ... well the Taliban is still causing headaches for the pipeline and uranium guys ... but wait for it.

I appreciate that Canadian soldiers tried their best to help the Afghani people, but that alone would never have got you sent there: Corporate interests did that.

And if you want to know whether Canadians care about injured vets, there are other threads about that.

This was not about Iraq, this was about Afghanistan, there are thousands of canadians that still believe the Afghan confict was about Oil, Pipelines and minerals.....and yet they can not explain that after more than 12 years of conflict why there is no OIL, no Pipelines, and no minerals...well the conflict is coming to a close and guess what still no frigging OIL, PIPELINES,and NO MINERALS....So what is corporate americas interest in Afghan....give me a source please....

You always do this Jacee when you have no argument you change the subject or reflect the questions....you've yet to even try answering any of my questions, you have not even presented a good case for your debate....no sources , here say, and facts that are made up....

This is not about me or my service in Afghan this is about you defending a terrorist...

I hope he writes a book about his experiences, including about his relationship with his father and his years in Guantanamo, where he transitioned from a boy to an adult.

I hope he's awarded millions in compensation for the abuse he's been inflicted with.

Why not, i mean Omar is not the only Candian to fight on behalf of the taliban, it will set a nice precedence....send a nice message to our troops as well....

I sincerely hope the terrorist is inflicted with a .223 square in the lower forehead.

It's pretty sad how much our government's position has divided Canadians. I'd give you life in prison...without parole.

In any case, have a nice day.

You mean to say we allowed even MORE Canadian parents to drag their kids into this mess? When will we ever learn?

Our troops must have their heads up their butts to have not said anything about this for so long.

Maybe when we stop making it profitable.

That our troops should be amongst the first to speak out against Canadian children being turned into soldiers.

Many soldiers have done just that, but nothing has been done here in Canada or the world...The UN act to give them a free ride has done nothing to stop this situation, but rather increased the use of child soldiers by their twisted commanders in most countries, as they all know very little of them will be held accountable, and the children will be given a free ticket... In Afghan child soldiers are very common.

how many posters here have brought that subject up, and in fact wanted Khadrs mother charged for aiding in this process. And yet they still ride our system for all it's worth, we have mr Crietien to thank for the Khadrs.

What i meant is Stop making it profitable for terrorists. If Khadr does sues and wins his case it will set a precedence for others, and there is a lot of them. Eyeball mentioned he hopes he wins and gets millions....while our troops can get only a max of 250 k for the worst injuries....

At least as many who are perfectly happy to take out their frustration on her kid instead. Harper has folks like you to thank for turning a blind eye to Canada's complicity in a crime of war and abrogation of Omar Khadr's human rights.

Agreed.

Not sure what kind of lobby group you think the military has, shit we can't get the government to buy us the right equipment, let alone get them to take on the worlds governments on child soldiering. The people with the voice is the regular citizens of Canada that is where the power lays. And they have spoken with their silence....we have a perfect example in Khadrs mother, and we sit on it, rather turn away hoping that problem goes away....

Want to bring a voice to the table, lets show the world we are ready to take action, start with the khadrs, and the many other terrorists in our country....Canadians have always been quick to piont the finger, but never at themselfs....it's the soldiers fault for not saying anything....and yet soldiers have been saying it all along nobody gave a crap, how many stories have you read where soldiers have engaged in combat with children, and are now living with that nightmare....I say 'stand up and be counted" instead of pionting a finger do something about it....we soldiers have already done our part, time for the citizens of Canada to do theirs....

If you're referring to Maher Arar suing the govt, he was not a terrorist.

If Khadr does sues and wins his case it will set a precedence for others, and there is a lot of them.

A lot of Canadian minors left in Gitmo for years? Don't think so.

Eyeball mentioned he hopes he wins and gets millions....while our troops can get only a max of 250 k for the worst injuries....

If Khadr sues and wins anything, it won't be for injuries in combat, but because our government failed in its duty to protect him as a minor, after he was apprehended, a ruling already made (2010) by the Supreme Court.

His situation is unique and won't be a precedent for any others that I'm aware of.

Not true. Many of us have lobbied govt about Omar Khadr, but the Harper govt doesn't listen to anybody but their core supporters.

We have a perfect example in Khadrs mother, and we sit on it, rather turn away hoping that problem goes away....

If she's a dual national then it's possible Harper's trying to go after her with the proposed 'citizenship reform bill'. Not sure.

I agree. It should not be possible for parents to force their Canadian child into combat. How do we stop it?

At least as many who are perfectly happy to take out their frustration on her kid instead. Harper has folks like you to thank for turning a blind eye to Canada's complicity in a crime of war and abrogation of Omar Khadr's human rights.

I have no frustrations, well none towards young Omar, what fustrates me is people like you (because we are pionting fingers right now) who stand up and defend him, who paints him as a poor young confused kid who should not be held accountable for any of his actions or crimes....When here in Canada everyone is accountable for their crimes including children.

How many would be standing on your side if Omar had killed a member of your family, would you not want some form of justice to be upheld....or would you be willing to turn the other cheek because he was a child, forced to fight as you claim..would that be justice in your eyes....I don't think so....

And yet no tears for the Afghans who Omar helped surpress, bring terror to, or killed, Afghan civilians who at one time had the same rights as Omar, but they were stripped by scumbags like omar and his merry band of brothers.....But hey, he is Canadian, he is a child, we have surpress his rights,( while he surpressed others) imprisoned him,( while he imprisoned others) how dare we, the great west with all our rules....fuck the Afghis, they don't count..or do they...well Eyeball do they count....

He was a civilian non combatant, protected by the genva convention, and inter national law.....until the second he decided to pick up a weapon and work for the bad guys....then he became a target, to be hunted down and destroyed...thats what you sent us over to do...And thats what we did...

But we seen the war from a different perspective one from the local Afghis side....we patroled daily into their neiborhoods talked to thousands of Afghis , trying to scratch our a living under war time conditions, trying to feed their families........we seen the little girls with their hands cut off, an old man skinned alive, left stalked out in the hot sun plus 55 Cel, to bake, we seen the little girls faces disfigured by acid, knifes, for going to school, we seen locals hung in the town square for talking to us, we seen school teachers raped, exicuted in front of the village for teaching little girls, and my favorite i seen a small boy of 3 with a sucide vest straped on to his little body, forced to make his way to our VCP(veh check piont) on his little bike with training wheels....these are not just my nightmares, but those of the local Afghans who lived with this day after day with no escape, no end of tour date, no mental health clinic to go to....

No these people also have to live with the fact that one of those scumbags that helped in doing these crimes, is locked up in a canadian prison, he has access to books, TV, all the entertainment he wants, he has a staff of workers that feed him, cloth him. instruct him, mental and medic help, and some say he has grounds to sue a government for millions.....from their eyes i'd say omar was being treated like a god....

but they don't count....They are just foreignors, foreignors that we agreed to help take back their country....thats old news lets stick our head back in the sand before someone notices....

Omar is a canadian who according to a few can do as he pleases to anyone across the glode and not be held accountable.... god bless Canadians.....

He was a Canadian, fighting for a well known terrorist group, in a foreign nation which he had no conection to at all, he was bringing death and destruction to a people in a land that once again he had no connection to at all. he assisted in provide the enemy with intel on NATO convoy paterns, he assisted in building and planting mines and IED's, he took part in a fire fight that killed Afgan soldiers, and a US medic to which he confessed he threw a grenade at ,which resulted in the killing off that medic.....right off the bat he is guilty of dozens of UN war crimes, to which he has been charged with a few, including the death of a US service men....Should we forget all that, should we grant him millions because we stepped on a few of his rights.....

We, the willing, led by the unknowing, are doing the impossible for the ungrateful. We have now done so much for so long with so little, we are now capable of doing anything with nothing.
