On Guard for Thee Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 Why didn't you tell the Americans at their American base to stop watching Fox News and to tune in to state financed and controlled CBC News instead ? Also tell those 'merkins who they should vote for in the next election ! Sorry, I know of no such CBC as you describe. Quote
WestCoastRunner Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 State financed and controlled CBC? Seriously? You have no clue Bush. Can you get real with our broadcasting station. I am so relieved we have the CBC. I know of many canadians living in the u.s. who are so relieved to have access to the CBC for unbiased reporting. Maybe you should tune in to it form time to time. Hmmmmm? You may have an awakening. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 (edited) Sorry, I know of no such CBC as you describe. You know...CBC News Network....isn't it available around the world like Fox News Channel ? Newsworld International died a long time ago, unlike Fox News which dominates cable news channels. WestCoastRunner Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 I think he was referring to state financed and controlled cbc news. We have no such thing here in canada. WestCoastRunner Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 well, definitely there are more choices when it comes to fox coverages of GOP. I get that. But why would I want that? WestCoastRunner Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 I am not sure what the argument is here? Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 I think he was referring to state financed and controlled cbc news. We have no such thing here in canada. Why not ? Canada doesn't have any 24 hour cable news channels to combat the encroachment of American content ? Better tell the CRTC ! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
WestCoastRunner Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 I'm still not sure wtf you are talking about bush? Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou

Hmmmmm? You may have an awakening. Good luck trying to get that point home. I've tried but to no avail. But who cares? I know a lot of Canadians, living in Canada and abroad who would storm Ottawa should they ever hint of shutting down CBC. 2 main reasons come immediately to mind, one you pointed out that we get balanced reporting, which Canadians demand in exchange for their taxpayer dollar that funds it, and we don't have to listen to a never ending stream of ridiculously retared commercials, because of the taxpayer dollar that funds it. CBC is held in high esteem around the world. We are luccky so let's keep it. Quote

Do you think Americans should have less choice like it is in Canada ? Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
WestCoastRunner Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 Thank you. CBC is held in high esteem in my circles. Quote I love to see a young girl go out and grab the world by the lapels. Life's a bitch. You've got to go out and kick ass. - Maya Angelou

Fox News (and several other cable news channels) offer far more choices than the Canadian government financed CBC. If you'd ever listened to CBC you damn sure know it is not governemnt controlled. It is partially taxpayer financed, that's a no brainer. If the CBC ever started flogging and government like Fox flogs the GOP, there would be a revolt the likes of you pablum eaters have ever witnessed. And again, we don't have to get our brains sucked out of our heads by used car commercials and the like. OK...but in the end, Americans still have far more choice (FNC, CNN, PBS, MSNBC, CBS, ABC, NBC, etc.) than Canadians, unless they want to tune in to American programming, which many do. Do you think Americans should have less choice like it is in Canada ? I don't recall anybody up here giving a damn what you choose to watch, that's entirely up to you. As far as your comment re: choice, I would draw your attention a line from an old Pink Floyd song about "13 channel's of shit on the TV to choose from" Quote

Do you think Americans should have less choice like it is in Canada ? Absolutely not. They should have every choice that we have. I do not worry what americans have access to. i worry what canadians living in america have access to. I don't care of the ratings for fox, but i would like to see equal opportunity for viewing of all broadcasts. Bush, why is it important to reward with the highest ratings. I love indie films. WestCoastRunner Posted February 12, 2014 Report Posted February 12, 2014 You are an idiot bush. You truly have no clue about CBC. If you did, you wouldn't harp on our beliefs. I do listen to news from CNN and of course PBS has good stuff. Fox is such a joke I don't bother anymore, unless I feel a need for some neurotic affilliation. Quote

The metaphor is perfect. Americans have more domestic cable and broadcast news choices than do Canadians, and Fox News Channel is part of that diverse menu.
