Rue Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) I agree with Cyber. Harper's government is riddled with scandal, corruption and patronage all the things he was elected to get rid of and criticized Chretien for and now repeats in the exact same manner. But to suggest his foreign policy is extremist. Of course not. By the way if I was John Baird and he feels the two buttheads in Egypt are worth pulling out, I would keep my remarks out of the news for obvious reasons. On this one Baird has to understand his being gay and the other two being gay is going to be perceived by the Egyptian military asproblematic as the military will not want to seen backing down to gays. Its a huge cultural factor that will make negotiations problematic. No military man in Egypt will take to gay men lecturing them they fear it will be perceived as weakness and you can't be perceived as being weak because it opens the window for another colonel or general to remove your ass from power. Baird should back channel the negotiations through a respected Egyptian Canadian. Not that I would lecture this government on what to do. Heaven's no. I have enough problems doing that with certain people on this forum. Edited October 4, 2013 by Rue Quote
DogOnPorch Posted October 4, 2013 Report Posted October 4, 2013 Saw a child soldier in Syria torture then execute two older fellows with a sword while the adults helped hold them down. Couldn't tell what 'side' they were on. Messy...but the kid had fun. We're not an extreme country nor is our government. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
PIK Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Well stated. You bet I have a lot of criticism toward's Harper's government. They have turned into the very government of Jean Chretiens riddled with corruption, patronage and scandal after scandal. It was interesting Harper got himself elected as a Reformist.Does anyone even remember his pledge to do away with the senate, patronage, scandals, lack of accountability? He not only has failed to do what he said he would, but engaged in the very things he got elected to rid the country of and for that he must be held accountable. However on his foreign policy give me a break. He is no extremist. Why because he doesn't pretend Hamas is not a terrorist group? Why because he does not pretend Hezbollah is not a terrorist group or Iran's regime is just a bunch of happy fellas with beards? His foreign policy at least is absent of the b.s. of the Chretien years. I am sick and tired of Conservative corruption..but what is the alternative? Trudeau? Muldoon or whatever that guy's name is? Its not a great choice is it, corruption, a ballerina or a millionaire socialist. Great. Sick and tired of consevative corruption, give us a break. There is hardly any corruption going on. Accounting procedures are at the heart of most and not one ounce if influence peddling going on that plagued other governments. Yes his senate picks turned out lousy and he will fix it and he is the only leader that ever wanted to do it. I love how the same posters on this board complain about the senate scandals and complain when he wants to reform it. This government which is not perfect but it is one of the cleanest ones we have had in a very long time. Quote Toronto, like a roach motel in the middle of a pretty living room.
bleeding heart Posted October 13, 2013 Report Posted October 13, 2013 . Yes his senate picks turned out lousy and he will fix it and he is the only leader that ever wanted to do it. ?? He's the only leader who ever wanted to fix his own lousy Senate picks? Is there not a more proactive way to go about this, such as...well, you do the math. jbg Posted October 22, 2013 Report Posted October 22, 2013 canada should be pressing israel to give up its nuclear weapons program, instead of worrying about a non-existent iranian nuclear weapons program. Israel is less likely to hurt anyone with its nukes than Iran. In Iran, if the ruler has a bad dream, who knows what people wind up glowing. PIK Posted October 24, 2013 Report Posted October 24, 2013 ?? He's the only leader who ever wanted to fix his own lousy Senate picks? Is there not a more proactive way to go about this, such as...well, you do the math. He was the only leader that wanted to do something about the senate. These same problems that we have now were going on with the previous governments and I don't remember anyone else standing up and say something needs to be done. Here are a few: the In/Out, Bev Oda, F35, 3.1 billion unacounted for, gazebo gate, Robo calls, Irwin Cottley, and that was just the first years. Now we are up to this senate thing. And I know I have not mentioned a whole bunch but it depresses me to look them all up. Quote

Robo calls, ya that is really going somewhere and every party is involved. 3.1 billion, that was pretty well gone before harper showed up. And it is shit like your posts that depresses me with all the BS in them. All these so called scandals add to a few million, compared to 100's of millions to billions stolen by federal and provincial liberal governments. Nice try, you get whiff of a real scandal, call me.
