Cultural assessments are always relative. To say that Americans are conspiracy minded, as a Canadian, is relative to our viewpoint. Doubting authority is a long held American value, just as sniveling compliance is a trait of Canadians.

Agreed...that's why the U.S. exists in the first place. The British and Loyalists in Canada were America's founding enemy.

The CBC poll was a fact...a sad, pathetic fact.

A poll about what people think and feel is a poll on opinion. A poll on something like "Who is the president of United States" is a poll on fact, no matter if 99% of people answer Romney that doesn't change reality. Sorry maybe next time I will use smaller words so maybe you understand.

As a Canadian, that makes me feel special to think that we were noticed by America so early on ! laugh.png

I throw my countrymen under the bus, jokingly, to point out the relative relativity of such assessments - often also made in terms of race, religion, etc.

ex. People from the west saying that Asians are so industrious and not lazy when... well... yeah...

I no longer believe that fairy tale....you never post as an American. Just another wannabe.....

Ditto. All of the "your country" vs. "my country" posts tend to dispel his claim.

Forgive them, as it is very important to some Canadians' identity, lest they disappear into the wretched world of the American hegemon. What's next...watching American television programming ? Never !

That's fine you can call me a liar fact is I haven't missed casting my ballot in a national election in 10 years. I have done nothing to make you think I am a lair but you don't like that my vote counts as much as yours so you create your own reality. Why not though right you are an American so you are entitled to your own facts.

You just said we were entitled to our own opinions too. My opinion is that you are not a native born or naturalized American citizen.

Yep....dead giveaway. Real dual citizens are much more diplomatic ! biggrin.png

Lol keep attack the messenger when you hate the message, keep proving my point that Americans make up their own facts when presented with facts they don't like. This is my point and we have two "Real Americans" here proving. I'll keep voting and hoping my vote starts to matter in big elections and that the culture changes. Until then I am great up here in Canada with half my family.

According to you, you're an American, too - so whatever you say about Americans bounces off of me and sticks to you. tongue.png

But yeah, you have done something to make me doubt your claim - and I clearly stated what that something is. When you refer to the U.S. as our country and Canada as your country, it belies your claim.

I am not native born we have been through this. My mother is American which entitles me to American citizenship. I have lived in states after my 15th birthday long enough so my children will also be entitled to what I was entitled to. Hope you are ready for more progressive Americans voting in your elections in the future. Sucks to be you.

The US you live in your country. I vote for gun control, progressive health care and progressive taxes. It hasn't been my America for a number of years. I will keep voting for my America and someday we will get there but the road is long.

Again though I get it. You don't like the facts in front of you so you think you are entitled to your own facts. Just like many Americans. That is part of the problem with the country. There is no reflection, there are no facts, everything is spin.

The U.S. I live in is also your country, according to you. Sooooo..... from now on, whenever you speak of "Americans," I will point out that you are speaking of yourself. :)

I have no idea what you are talking about. I know not all Americans are the same I have plenty of progressives that live there and fight the good fight.

You still are bored...hence so much America gazing. Good thing hockey is back, huh?
