No matter how it performs, it sure is cute! http://news.yahoo.co...-211724188.html Though a rather “unique” color it shouldn't mater, if done right, a submarine won’t be detected by sight Joking aside though, having both hunted submarines for a stipend and flown several times over the waters these fellows will likely operate, the color does blend well with the littorals of the Gulf…..At the end of the day though, doesn’t make them less dead if required. Guest Derek L Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 This will find 'em...or something similar will. Not smart using a ship based system against a potentially suicidal sub crew……………If done right, it would be more reminiscent of this: Quote
DogOnPorch Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Ah yes....the irony of sinking in port. The five hour version was great...but you literally needed breaks. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
DogOnPorch Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 As for the Hedgehog. It has been the curse of the submarine for quite some time. A proven killer in the hands of a trained DD crew. That one can pop a computer assisted pattern half a km from the ship. If they hear yah...yer dead. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
DogOnPorch Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Japanese two man sub that washed-up after Pearl Harbor. Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
Boges Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 Rather small isn't it? That's what she said. Does this mean Iran ISN'T a threat to world peace, because their navy is shit. I'll call middle of the road here. The US has an overkill Navy that's a relic of the Cold War. It seems any potential enemy has long ago abandoned a Navy as a realistic way to fight a battle. Of course I have no clue what I'm talking about so . . . yeah it's a cute Sub. BTW where's the Deck Gun? Most U-Boats sank merchant ships with a tiny Deck Gun. At least have that. Quote

Taiwan...I'm looking at you. Not if they pirate EMALS…………Pardon the pun, but the Chinese just catapulted ahead of a whole lot of navies that have ingrained corporate knowledge of naval fixed wing aviation, and by fielding a Flanker at sea, they’ve just surpassed the Indians 60 year old carrier armed with a handful of Sea Harriers………Now the Indians will eventually get their overpriced Russian carrier , armed with a dozen or so Mig-29s, but the Chinese have already started practicing arrested landings………The Indians not so much……….. Also the shear size of the Chinese aircraft carrier when compared to the Indian’s former Kiev class carrier they‘ll be getting, will guarantee the Chinese the ability to start conducting truly cyclic carrier ops well also generating a much greater sortie rate…………….After the Americans and French, there’s then the Chinese. Guest Derek L Posted December 3, 2012 Report Posted December 3, 2012 The Red Chinese...impressive on parade. Not so impressive in battle. Perhaps, but the Chinese have demonstrated numerous times the ability to learn from others mistakes well looking "long view", as such affording them the ability to leap over technological dead ends………….And clearly putting an aircraft carrier finally to sea, well having plans to build numerous indigenous designs, demonstrates a willingness……….. You criticisms sound familiar to those within the USN & RN of the Japanese in the 1930s……….Granted one carrier doesn’t make a Chinese Kido Butai, but it’s a start…………The drastic increase in the naval forces amongst the Chinese and Indians is eerily similar to the early 1900s Dreadnought arms race between the United Kingdom and Germany………..
