Boges Posted November 23, 2012 Report Posted November 23, 2012 The penny tax would be levied by municipalities, not the province. So Toronto would be taxing Torontonians and anyone who buys goods and services within Toronto. Exactly, so I don't know why Fletch was brining the burbs into the debate. That being said you put a 1% VAT in Toronto, I'm sure Hazel will see fit to do it in the kingdom of Mississauga, she was already opining that a Bag ban would be a decent idea. Which it's not! Quote

TheNewTeddy Posted November 26, 2012 Report Posted November 26, 2012 It's a great idea in fact, but the prov should lower it's take so the sales tax level stays the same. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. Add "TheNewTeddy" to Twitter, Facebook, or Hotmail to reach me!

Frankly, Cities should be given a portion of income taxes. If you work here, you should pay taxes here. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. People who are on social services are having their benefits stripped from them. They are getting less, not more. The rich are getting more and the poor and disabled are being punished. Benefits were slashed by 40% by Mike Harris and has remained at the same level since then. That was nearly 20 years ago now. Benefits must be raised NOW! But instead they are being further lowered.
