If you'd rather live in China's system may I suggest you vacation there and see how you like it? They have fishing there too.

I think you've misread eyeball's remarks.

“There is a limit to how much we can constantly say no to the political masters in Washington. All we had was Afghanistan to wave. On every other file we were offside. Eventually we came onside on Haiti, so we got another arrow in our quiver."

--Bill Graham, Former Canadian Foreign Minister, 2007

Well harper can now agree to the deal, justin says it is ok .

It may be tongue in cheek - but watch the CBC spin it that Trudeau and the Liberals have a "vision" for trade with China.....while that same CBC turns a deaf ear to Harper, Prentice and a myriad of others who have been preaching that you can't continue to put all your eggs in the US basket.....oh - and what do we trade with Mr. Trudeau....why, oil and resources of course. Look for some softball CBC questions to whoever supports what Trudeau is saying.

The CNOOC-Nexen agreement is nothing like the Canada-China Foreign Investment Promotion and Protection Deal.

A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.

There's going to me some very rich share holders and I'm sure the everyone in the Hill will get part of the action. I've gotta check and see what the shares are. This was tooo good for Alberta and Harper wouldn't turn it down and I hope the safe guards is for Canada and not China. one never knows about these Tories, the forestry lost 1 Billion to the US because of the Tories ,now I know why, Harper Lovvvvvvvvvvvvvvves the USA!.

I want to see all of our natural resources being controlled by the government. Privatization of our natural resources must be banned immediately. Whoever controls the resources, controls the country.

Like most of us here, I am generally well informed and go beyond news headlines to find information. Despite that, I don't know if the deal is good or not. That's a problem. NAFTA can be killed with 6 months notice so is 15 years necessary? Quebec wants a moratorium on oil exploration in the St. Lawrence and they're being sued for it. Is that what we have to look forward to?

If it is a good deal for the nation, why does it have to be secret? There are questions to be answered, why not debate it in parliament?
