There's the rub. Shall we open the doors, Sire?

Well it took a while, but I'm glad we got to the point where you're comfortable admitting your opinions on this matter are based on little but guesswork and hearsay.

I see kids hanging around people who are more like them personality wise. There is usually one black kid, two Chinese kids, an Indian kid and a white kid in the packs of mall rovers.

you've just described the UN assembly that take over my home periodically, and all of them completely typical canadian pre-teens and young adults who make no issue of each others ethnic background...

Awww...I missed you too, Michael.

Meh...perhaps I'm just old and stodgy in my ways. Western civilization can die off with me

Well, I hope and trust you've got a good many years left. We still owe each other a beer, for one thing.

But personally, I not only don't think Werstern civilization is going to die off; I think it's reaching a point of being truly triumphant, in that the best qualities of Western civlization are winning out.

It's not a neat and straight historical line, but I think my assessment is correct.

Meanwhile, it behooves us to continue criticizing ourselves from every angle (which is precisely why these debates occur at all)...to help ensure that the best qualities of the West win out, and the worst fade into obscurity.

My opinions on Islam?...lol...that's like the old Peggy Hill saying from 'King Of The Hill': It is my opinion that Thanksgiving is the busiest travel day of the year.

See what I mean? This is pointless. Not a shred of honesty, and not a shred of competence.

What is dishonest in my post ?

Michael Hardner does serve a purpose, though, he puts on full display the mentality of the left and the depths to which they will delude themselves.

I asked an honest question which you didn't answer and instead decided to insult me. I won't make pronouncements on the "mentality of the right" though because several of them are doing a good job of making reasoned points.

I don't have that information. Do you?

You're the one who initially asked for the information. Why is an exact number or percentage relevant? It isn't relevant at all. Some of us recognise the problem, some of us demand undeliverable proof from Ipsos-Reid.

The effects are apparent in many countries, improvident

habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of

commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the

followers of the Prophet rule or live.

Really, I don't think that this observation is worth much. Don't you think we've learned a lot about generalizations such of this since Churchill's day ?

You dont NEED that information. The only information you need is statistics on Canadian muslims. Do they behave? Do they commit crimes in higher numbers than other immigrants? Do we have real problem with these people relative to other immigrant groups? Do they work and pay taxes?

If you can get to that point then you can think about what if anything we should/can do about it. Subjective opinions on how immigrants MIGHT behave based on religion are not required... We have real muslim immigrants living here in Canada that we can use to get information on how they DO behave.

I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger

It won't die out as long as there are more people like me and less people like you. I don't assume any sort of inevitability of Western civilisation "winning out". It sort of reminds me of the idiotic leftist Francis Fukuyama essay of "The End of History". There is a constant struggle between freedom and tyranny, and as the Reagan quote goes, "Freedom is never more than one generation away from extinction." Leftists like yourself envision some sort of inevitability of your grand design, and some of us actually know where that arrogant narrative comes from.

OK. But it's dangerous to think that thousands of folks demanding the end to something can't get that something done even using our own truly triumphant rules.

...and 'yes' to that beer. But we might have to meet in Manitoba.

I suppose you think Statistics Canada is actually maintaining such data?

I dunno. I'm trying to get a read on any of your opinions, but you can't or won't articulate them in a fully fleshed out fashion. Tough to engage someone who is off in their own cloud of rhetoric. Oh well.

Hear hear - when immigrants clamour to join democracies and protest to overthrow dictatorships and install democracy, most would see the positive side of things. I certainly do.

I'm not sure what happened that people who are ostensibly patriotic should have little faith in the strength of our democracies.

Meh.

I assume you understand that I would disgree with this assessment.

Or is that, too, going to throw you into a frenzy of invective and ill-conceived notions?

You post your way. I'll post mine. If we're civil there should be no problem. Right?

Virgins?

Do you ever take a moment to consider that you behave like a teenager? Put aside the eternal bachelor playing video games and enamoured with his own ineptitude towards being a family man, you regularly reply with playground-calibre dialogue.

"Cool story bro", and virgin jokes just expose you as the perpetual infant.

Well, it's a discussion board and as much as I like a good one-liner, it's not a substitute for actual discussion.

"Fat guy" and "ProTip" is exactly what I'm talking about. You don't even realise that you expose yourself as a manchild. Have you got some pizza boxes stacked up on the kitchen table with empty pepsi bottles lying under your bed? Do you also celebrate your "decision" not to have kids by deluding yourself into thinking this was a choice you made for yourself rather than the other way around?

Over the line, BD - if you can't score points without insulting, then take a breather please.
