And yet we are worried about Iran getting a bomb when we are practically GIVING it to the Chinese. /facepalm

Its only the cheerleading drones that really think Iran is going to build a nuclear weapon and up and nuke Israel or anyone else. The people at the top of the food chain arent worried about that at all, they just dont want the balance of power to change. They are worried that the west wont be able to strut around the middle east trashing stuff with impunity anymore. If anything they are worried that there might be the same kind of uneasy peace that exists between India and Pakistan where both sides are afraid to make any big moves.

I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger

Like I said, the very fact that, during the Iraq War, US officials expressed outrage at the "foreign interference" of Iran in Iraq is telling...and jaw-dropping, were we able to be surprised anymore.

In case you aren't aware, "the Chinese" already have the bomb, have had it since 1964, and furthermore are one of the five recognized nuclear weapon states under the NPT.

I fail to see how being part of the NPT actually solves anything. Also the fact that no one has lobbed a nuke since the two atomic bombs on Japan, the chances of a full out nuclear war is very slim in my view.

Uhm, yes. You've forgotten the American embassy incident already? You've forgotten they burned down the British embassy?

Do we remember the time when the USA tried to undermine the politics in Iran which created the stage for the hostage crisis? Canada was just as guilty by allowing safe passage and protecting US nationals by giving them Canadian IDs in order escape the country.

So acts of terrorism were committed against Iran at that time, and whatever Iran did was in self defense in my view.

GH, Iran stormed the US embassy! They occupied it and took everyone inside hostage!

Even when the Japanese declared war by bombing Pearl Harbour, both sides respected each other's embassies. That is a basic rule for ALL civilized nations for a long, long time!

Iran broke that basic rule. By definition they were no longer a civilized country. Now you defend their actions?

My friend, you and I have dramatically different definitions of morality and ethics. I often have to think about mine, since I find that in the real world things are not always clear.

I envy you. It seems that for you things are very simple. Everything Uncle Sam does is bad. Anything anybody does to them is ok!

How close to the line has Great Britain come, by theatening to storm the Equadorian Embassy?

Too close, as far as I'm concerned!

What are you implying? Two wrongs make it right? I don't follow your reasoning. That was the excuse I tried to sell my mother when I was a kid.

WB, we overthrew Iran's democratically elected government and installed a dictator. He took the whole country hostage!

I said now watch what you say they'll be calling you a radical,

As dre points out about installing the Shah.

War is a humanitarian crime period. Also war is hell and there really are no rules when it comes to war. It's not a game.

Iran only does what every other country on the planet is doing, undermining someone else for self preservation.

My friend, you and I have dramatically different definitions of morality and ethics. I often have to think about mine, since I find that in the real world things are not always clear.

True they are not always clear, because our leaders have a veste interest in not telling us about the clandestine operations we take part in against other countries. And you wonder why this goes round and round and round? When does it stop?

I envy you. It seems that for you things are very simple. Everything Uncle Sam does is bad. Anything anybody does to them is ok!

If you view Iran's support of Hezbollah as state sponsored terrorism, then what of the operations last year in Libya, Egypt, Tunisia, and now Syria by the US and western allies including Canada.

All while reports of the western supported rebels as having elements of Al-Queda among them. So it seems that your outrage at just Iran while ignoring the crap that we are taking part in to destabilize the middle east.

You will never get an ulcer. :P

If I do it's from the GMO crap food that I consume.

Not at all. I'm waiting for your declaration that Great Britain is no longer a civilized country...or is at least open to the notion of abandoning civilization.

And according to one British Embassy official, the tentative plan was made at the behest of the United States...so there's two alleged Bastions of Freedom declaring a war on civlized behaviour!

Well, Britain DIDN'T do it! Iran DID!

Doesn't that count for anything, while you are trying to establish some sort of moral equivalency?

Wouldn't occupying an embassy for months and months, while holding everyone who worked inside hostage, be even SLIGHTLY more wrong behavior than Britain only threatened to do?

As I had said, I find these moral equivalency arguments to usually be a huge stretch. They appear to just start with an assumption that anything the USA does is evil and then use that as justification for countries like Iran or Syria to do even worse!

I just can't agree. Particularly when so many younger Iranians seem to have a disconnect with their religious rulers.

I think GhostHacked is talking about Canada selling uranium to China.

This is false.

Many nuclear bombs and even more dangerous hydrogen bombs have been detonated around the world. And by many nations!

The fallout from these explosions has unquestionably destroyed life forms and caused great harm to humans.

True only the US has directly used the bomb to destroy human life.

Oh but when the US uses their embassies to spy and infiltrates various UN agencies with informants to report then thats "morally sound"

It's understandable why you put me on ignore. It must be real hard for you to be proven wrong over and over again.

Alright, I was hoping people would understand that I meant that no nukes have been lobbed for war since Japan. Durrr.

But in the end , what's one more? Let Iran have their bomb. If they use it, turn them to glass. What we are doing is convicting of a crime that they have yet, and may never commit. Maybe the tables have turned and now it's guilty until proven innocent? Is that how we do things here at home in Canada? If it is, someone better tell the people, then we are all guilty until proven innocent.

That's some dangerous thinking if I ever heard it.

I'll even go one step further and say that if Iran has a bomb,it would actually promote peace and save lives!

Do you remember in the opening of the movie "Independence Day" all the lefty groups were gathered to welcome the aliens, directly under their ship? And they got blown to bits?

I could see WWWTT there, raising his arms in welcome and chastising anyone who even suggested the aliens were anything but benevolent! :P

as I've never seen that movie, how did you interpret your referenced groups ideology? Did they validate your expressed, "heart thinkers"... not "head thinkers"!

Perhaps you saw the movie "Mars Attacks", Waldo. Essentially the same thing happens when the Martians first arrive. They are greeted by "Peace, Love, Dove" and get blasted to smithereens!

The message is obvious, I would think.

even though you've labeled me as one of your 'heart thinkers', I also missed that movie.

but I think I see your pattern here: this Harper action is a preventive one aimed to thwart the aliens & martians (Iranians) attacking Canada! When you put it in terms of movies, I get it... I really get it!

someone should give Harper a "World Statesman of the Year" award - maybe these guys!

I understand why the Tories close the embassy in Iran but what is not true is that Harper came out and said they would still take care of the Canadians in prison there. Well, how can a PM take care of its citizens in prison, when there will be no more communication bewteen countries??? It would have been better not to say anything about the prisons.

Oh Yeah, Waldo! Of course that was my point!

Except I don't recall ever labeling YOU as a heart thinker! Then again, my memory is not always what it was.

It would have surprised me if I had done so, however. After all, first I would have had to be sure you HAD a heart! Then again, the warmth and kindness of your typical post would have assured me of that! :P

yes - this thread does need to be more about... the waldo! Let me refresh your deteriorating brain recall:

Waldo, you've just proven what I thought I was the only one on this board who knew - you DO have a heart!
