I'm wondering if Romney's not decided to go with a Catholic and is just trying to figure out which one. Edited April 19, 2012 by TheNewTeddy Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. He also trails Obama badly among Hispanics, which is an increasingly important segment. And of course he also needs to increase his enthusiasm from the religious conservatives that make up "the base" of Republican support who aren't sure about Romney's Christian or pro-life credentials. It seems likely that they will choose a VP candidate who will help shore up these areas. So I expect that we will see Sarah Palin running around in a sombrero very shortly. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

It turned out that she was a bad choice, but she was a unique pick, a gamble to help raise McCain's numbers - and the McCain campaign would not have done that if VP's didn't offer anything to the ticket; and had she been what they had hoped she was, she may very well have pulled it off. She isn't the only example of how Veeps lose elections, Eagleton is another great example of a VP pick who sunk the ship before it even left port. Quote
Shady Posted April 21, 2012 Report Posted April 21, 2012 She isn't the only example of how Veeps lose elections She didn't lose the election, McCain and his horrible campaign did. Beginning with his brilliant idea to postpone his campaign, postpone the debate and head back to Washington to meet with house and senate Republicans. Quote

Palin was amazing and Americans loved her. She never stumbled or hurt McCain at all. We know you live in a different world then the rest of us so can we move on so the adults can have a talk about the realities of this election and past elections. Quote
Shady Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Palin was amazing and Americans loved her. She never stumbled or hurt McCain at all. False choice. The choice isn't between her being amazing, American's loving her, and her never stumbling or her losing the election for McCain. McCain was the one that lost the election, because of a terribly run campaign and a bad political environment for any Republican. Stop acting like a child. Quote

Oh, she lost McCain's election - if it wasn't already lost; it may well have been, but she was the nail in the coffin. She was the assurance that there was no way in h*ll that he would win. Quote
Shady Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Oh, she lost McCain's election No she didn't. It's already a proven fact. She was actually a net gain for him. Without her, he would have lost the election by an even larger margin. Quote

Romney should go for a safe bet no one that shakes things up, go boring get yourself a Biden, or a Gore. The Republicans got a huge boost from Palin in 2008. They lost it again once people started realizing what a blooming idiot she is, but it's clear that picking her as VP boosted the Republicans back into the race for a while. And picking the right VP candidate could provide a lot of help for Mitt Romney. If the right VP candidate existed. But they probably can't find somebody with all the attributes they need. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
Shady Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 I've read rumors of the governor of Puerto Rico as well as the normal list of Rubio, Portman, Christie, Ryan, Haley and Martinez. Quote

Shady Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 Nicolle Wallace, the McCain-Palin senior adviser, didn't even vote for their ticket; she chose not to vote rather than vote for them. Good for her. She was one of the architects of one of the worst run presidential campaigns in the history of general elections. It's no wonder that her and Steve Schmidt continue to try to cover their asses even to this day. Fortunately, they'll never be allowed anywhere close to any general election campaign for the rest of their lives. They were a complete disaster. Quote

Shady Posted April 22, 2012 Report Posted April 22, 2012 It sure was a badly run campaign - Steve Schmidt was instrumental in having Palin on the ticket. Forsure. He was also instrumental in their very poorly planned campaign strategy. Anyways, back to the Veepstakes... The media will not leave Rubio alone about VP, even though he's stated over and over that he wouldn't accept it. Quote
TheNewTeddy Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 I actually think Rubio will accept it, and will be the one. My money is on him. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. Add "TheNewTeddy" to Twitter, Facebook, or Hotmail to reach me!
TheNewTeddy Posted April 23, 2012 Author Report Posted April 23, 2012 Rubio made a flub saying "after I've been Vice President" 'for 8 years' today. I still think he is the pick. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. Add "TheNewTeddy" to Twitter, Facebook, or Hotmail to reach me!

punked Posted April 23, 2012 Report Posted April 23, 2012 How about Dick Cheney, Round 3! Cheney has been a part of every Republican Admin going back to Reagan. To believe he wouldn't be able to worm is way into a Romney presidency would be foolish. Problem is Cheney always answers any question with War! Quote
Newfoundlander Posted May 22, 2012 Report Posted May 22, 2012 There's now talk that President Obama could replace Joe Biden with Hillary Clinton, don't know what the chances are but it would be a smart move. Quote
