capricorn Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Notable budget quotes from party leaders interviewed on CPAC. NDP Thomas Mulcair: "This is a budget for Harper and his buddies." Liberal Bob Rae: "The CBC has been singled out for punishment." Green Elizabeth May: "This budget is a tough on nature budget." Quote "We always want the best man to win an election. Unfortunately, he never runs." Will Rogers
cybercoma Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 It's pretty telling that the only Parliamentary Officer that gets "substantial and immediate cuts," according to Trudeau, is the Chief Electoral Officer. I wonder why that is.... Quote
Topaz Posted March 29, 2012 Author Report Posted March 29, 2012 I'd have to echo your sentiment there. Topaz buddy - Do you not realize how much of a hack you come off as with posts like this? You criticize Harper's spending, and then he does something, however small, to curtail it, and you wet your bed over it as well.... Choose your battles man. It's my right as a Canadian citizen and voter to criticize the seating government just like its yours. Your turn comes in the next election when Harper is gone. BTW, apparently Harper has come out and told the MP's to get their act together by the Fall because the MP's were against touching their pensions and Harper has said everyone is taking a hit. So there... I said something good about Harper because at last he's doing something good! Quote

Topaz Posted March 29, 2012 Author Report Posted March 29, 2012 And in 2015 if people are pissed about this, they can unseat the government before any of this OAS stuff happens. I also agree and now with all the unemployed workers, the budget says you have to move to get work or your EI is reduced! So what they are saying is everyone unemployed on EI move to Alberta and Saskatchewan?? Whose going to pay for it? It's be easy to move the Tories from office! Besides , how do we know they won the election honestly? Quote
madmax Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Who cares about making sure our budget is in good shape for the future. LOL.. Considering that EI was in FINE shape with a $56Billion surplus... and now.. as if EI Premiums didn't raise enough for our government... They do this to us next.. "The employment insurance tax is going up $600 million a year . . . that's a big wack to businesses and employees," Bend Over.. Quote

Shady Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 LOL.. Considering that EI was in FINE shape with a $56Billion surplus It was in fine shape because people weren't using it. You'll find that that changes during a recession. Quote
madmax Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 The PC Party in Newfoundland and Labrador has cut the debt from by over $4 billion, but seeing you're so uneducated, a nice way to put it, I wouldn't expect you to have a clue about that. We also have popular premiers unlike in Nova Scotia where a majority want Dexter gone, not surprising seeing he's a liar. LMAO.. I tend to compare a Danny Williams Budget to a Conservative Harper Budget. Quote
Newfoundlander Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 LMAO.. I tend to compare a Danny Williams Budget to a Conservative Harper Budget. Him and Gordon Campbell were the best fiscal managers in Canada. Quote

Its a Minute change... these are going to remain Platinum pension plans... not even a drop to Gold... MPs do not deserve these pensions... and how about we ask them to wait till 67 to collect instead of 55 Quote

I thought "no cost is too high" and "we're just getting started" said it all but now all I hear is...crickets...it's weird. Shady Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 I thought "no cost is too high" and "we're just getting started" said it all but now all I hear is...crickets...it's weird. You forgot the mother of all slogans from Saint Jack. "Love is better than anger. Hope is better than fear. Optimism is better than despair." In other words, good stuff is better than bad stuff. Shady Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 OMG, I just read that the retirement age of 67 doesn't take effect until 2023. The hyperbole from some of you is ridiculous. You're all acting as if this takes place immediately. More Harper Derangement Syndrome. Quote
dre Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 Complete nonsense. Home ownership isn't falling off. And you can't extrapolate the current recession type economy as the economy that's going to exist for the next 2 to 3 decades. That ridiculous. And it has nothing to do with attacking unions, whatever that means. Actually we are still in a false boom. The recession is still coming, and should hit Canada some time in 2014. Canadians have no savings, and current levels of consumption are a bubble driven by overly easy credit and interest rates pegged near historic lows. People are going to stop consuming so that they can rebuild their savings, and when they do theres going to be a deep recession. As for home ownership... current rates are the result of a credit bubble. Yes... when you keep interest rates pegged at zero, and lending standards are almost non existant you get spikes in the rate of home ownership. Once rates hit 5 or 6 percent again though, youre going to see a huge glut of defaults. Quote I question things because I am human. And call no one my father who's no closer than a stranger
Smallc Posted March 29, 2012 Report Posted March 29, 2012 What's the word on Defense? Not sure, but the CCG gets a much needed injection. Quote
