DogOnPorch Posted March 22, 2012 Report Posted March 22, 2012 Anyone here ever play this game? It is ADDICTIVE. Looks pretty cool. Back in the 1980s, Star Trek was via a boardgame system known as Star Fleet Battles. That was also terribly addictive once everyone knew the rules. http://www.starfleetgames.com/ My current entertainment addiction is a heavily modded TESIV Oblivion which has a similar character creation interface to ST-Online. That MF takes 100s of hours of gameplay to finish...not that it ever really finishes. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Elder_Scrolls_IV:_Oblivion Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
bush_cheney2004 Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 The original Star Trek game....played "online" with a mainframe computer and teletype terminals. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Star_Trek_%28text_game%29 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Shady Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 I've been meaning to try out Star Trek Online for a while now. I'm definitely gonna look into it. Quote
Smallc Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 I played it, but they did some kind of update, and the launcher wouldn't open anymore on the only PC in my house. I might try again soon. Quote
Bonam Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 I tried it shortly after release but wasn't at all impressed. I'm sure it's improved considerably since then. Developers tend to release their MMO titles in drastically unfinished form and then hope players stick around while they fix all the problems. Quote

The main complaints on the forum is that the game's not improved. So be warned. And if anyone wants to play, make 10GB of space on your HD, and, if you have a single core, be prepared to set your graphics to low in crowded areas. Quote Feel free to contact me outside the forums. GostHacked Posted March 23, 2012 Report Posted March 23, 2012 It's a pretty good game, and now it's free to play. It's an evolution of the Starfleet Command series, which was based on the original board game, Star Fleet Battles. Quote
