Shady Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 For worst open government performance. Hope n change! Some of the highlights include: •selective and abusive prosecutions using espionage laws against whistleblowers as ostensible "leakers" of classified information, with more "leaks" prosecutions in the last three years than all previous years combined•persisting recycled legal arguments for greater secrecy throughout Justice's litigation posture, including specious arguments before the Supreme Court in 2011 in direct contradiction to President Obama's "presumption of openness"; •retrograde proposed regulations that would allow the government to lie in court about the existence of records sought by FOIA requesters, and also prevent elementary and secondary school students – as well as bloggers and new media – from getting fee waivers, while narrowing multiple other FOIA provisions Link Heckuva job. punked Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 Wow Shady's and the rights attacks get more boring by the day, no wonder Obama's approval is climbing. Quote

I don't like Obama's policies, his foreign policy has insulted every ally the U.S has ever had The only reason Obama will win the next election is because their is nobody on the republican side that is ready to be the President of the United States Quote

I think they provide a valuable service to the population at large. However, I'm a little less enthusiastic about leaking classified information. Especially if it harms the country's national security interests. Although, it's definitely possible to leak classified information, but also have some regard to an individual's safety, like say an operative in the field. Quote
Shady Posted February 15, 2012 Author Report Posted February 15, 2012 Obama will win the next election is because their is nobody on the republican side that is ready to be the President of the United States Obama could very well win the next election, because historically, incumbent presidents are difficult to beat. But I disagree about nobody else being ready to be President of the United States. Obama wasn't even ready when he took office in '08. Mitt Romney could step in and do just fine, and has more executive and government experience than Barack Obama has even now. Quote

Smallc Posted February 15, 2012 Report Posted February 15, 2012 And, if Romney beats Obama, I'll be extremely surprised. Quote

OK, but point of order please: US presidents are inaugurated in the January following the election year (i.e. 2009). There is an excellent book that documents President Obama's growth into the job as well as problems in his cabinet. For these reasons he is certainly more qualified than he was in January 2009. He now has experience....more than Romney in the actual job. Obama wins this election without a doubt. http://www.amazon.com/Confidence-Men-Washington-Education-President/dp/0061429252 Edited February 15, 2012 by bush_cheney2004 Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Shady Posted February 16, 2012 Author Report Posted February 16, 2012 OK, but point of order please: US presidents are inaugurated in the January following the election year (i.e. 2009). Sorry, I meant '09 There is an excellent book that documents President Obama's growth into the job as well as problems in his cabinet. For these reasons he is certainly more qualified than he was in January 2009. He now has experience....more than Romney in the actual job. Obama wins this election without a doubt. http://www.amazon.com/Confidence-Men-Washington-Education-President/dp/0061429252 Yes and he's doing a heckuva job. I'm just comparing Obama from '08 to Romney in '12, that's all. And yes, I realize that Obama will be very difficult to beat. That doesn't mean it's a good thing that he wins. I'd rather have a pro-business, pro-growth president in the White House, as oppose to the wet blanket that's currently there, and could be there for another 4 years. But yes we know, you believe Obama will win, and he probably will. Quote

But see, that's the thing. President Obama has abandoned almost every "progressive" pipe dream touted during the '08 election, and I am including health care (no public option). He is no Bill Clinton, nor does he have that Reagan magic to motivate with runaway optimism, despite grand oratory. Obama is his own cat, finding his way into the job, and finding it is far more difficult than he ever imagined. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.
Michael Hardner Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Obama is his own cat, finding his way into the job, and finding it is far more difficult than he ever imagined. I find him remarkably similar to Bush in this regard. Quote Looks like someone has a new patronizing catch phrase ! Michael Hardner
olpfan1 Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Obama has left Britain all alone in their recent scuffle with Argentina..it's shameful after everything Britain has done for his country Quote
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 16, 2012 Report Posted February 16, 2012 Obama has left Britain all alone in their recent scuffle with Argentina..it's shameful after everything Britain has done for his country I'm afraid you have no idea what you are talking about. Just as before, the US tilts heavily towards the UK over ally Argentina. During the 1982 Falklands War, the US provided critical war materials, aviation fuel, and most importantly, the latest AIM-9L Sidewinder missile, taken from US squadrons and stores.
