The Treaty of Versailles was a punishment treaty NOT a "peace" treaty... And it was designed that way,mostly by the French.Afterall,France had been invaded twice in 50 years by Germany.The first time they deserved everything they got by picking a fight with the newly formed Germany in 1870. France was warned not to punish Germany at Versailles by non other than the Brits,however,Ferdinand Foche and Georges Clemenceau,in all their French arrogance(and pseudosuperiority),would'nt listen.Not only did they set up the horrid economic conditions that lead to the NAZI's taking power,but by shutting out President Orlando of Italy at the same treaty conference,they set up the rise of Benito Mussolini's Fascist's in Italy... Iran? Germany? Nazis? Soviets? Wall Street bankers? Capitalists? America? To some Westerners, these groups/phrases have somehow become comparable. "Iranian Nuclear Threat - Real or Not?" is the same as asking about a "Soviet Missile Threat". Quote
