Guest Posted April 26, 2016 Report Posted April 26, 2016 Everyone who watches the show and/or reads the books thinks that. I think we all expected it in the premiere. I was a little disappointed that the wall plot didn't progress a little more. I expected Bran to make an appearance as well, though I really didn't enjoy that line much a couple of seasons ago. So Reek and her were going to take out a squad of mounted Bolton Knights without any weapons? Why are you blaming the victim Slick?!?!?! SHAME!!!!! Brienne has finally been able to fulfill her vow to Caitlyn Stark. Well half her vow. That foursome should be entertaining. Sansa could have grabbed a sword and stuck someone in the back like Arya did for the hound in a tavern. I agree that the misfit foursome story line should be entertaining. Quote
Boges Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 Now Jon Snow has all that Jesus imagery attached to him. He'll start his new church on this rock. And that puke Ollie is Judas. Ramsay Snow is the worst. THE WORST!!!! He's gotta have a Joffery moment before this season is up right? Right now he's on full heel mode. An army of Knight's Watchmen and Wildlings (including a Giant) led by Davos, Jon Snow, Brienne and Sansa could handle the Boltons/Carstark army. Fan Fiction for me I guess. I don't care about the Greyjoys. The Iron Islands are as bad as Dorne. Holy war upcoming between the followers of Jon Snow and the Faith Militant. DRAGON!!!! YEAH!!! Quote
Guest Posted May 2, 2016 Report Posted May 2, 2016 (edited) As it turns out I really enjoy watching giants kill men with their bare hands. Be it Wun Wun smashing the Crow into the side of Castle Black or The Mountain crushing the drunk's head into the wall. The ritual used by Melisandre on Zombie Snow was much like that used in the House Of Black And White. Interesting that Thoros can do it instantly without the personal grooming. I wasn't looking forward to the return of Bran's story line, but I dig the flashbacks. Edited May 2, 2016 by Guest Quote

DRAGON!!!! YEAH!!! Ramsay is hooped. HOOPED! He has no idea what he's doing. He might have done well in handling Stannis's army, but he has no idea how to rule, and without his dad around to show him the ropes he's not going to have a chance to learn, either. In five seasons of watching this show, I think we've learned that nothing dooms a character more than hubris. Ned, Robb, Joffrey, Oberyn, Stannis, Renley, they all met their fates more or less due to hubris... and Ramsey has headed down the same path. Aside from already having the Lannisters mad at him, he's now also just murdered one of Walder Frey's daughters, which will probably prove to be a costly move. And he has decided he doesn't need the support of the rest of the North other than the Karstarks and the Umbers (it was House Umber, wasn't it?). And he's made his calculations regarding taking Sansa back from Castle Black without knowing that Jon Snow will have a very large army of Wildlings supporting him. Not to mention that most of the people within the walls of his own castle would like to see him dead. Ramsey's going to meet a bloody end... it's just a question of who gets to him first. I guess this puts an end to the fan theory that Roose is actually an immortal vampire, huh? Roose got the son he raised. Great parenting skills definitely came back to bite him in the ass. Happy Father's Day, Roose! I definitely agree about the Iron Isles. They're completely peripheral to every other storyline going on, and they haven't even been on our TV for 2 seasons... so why do we care? They need to either get this storyline relevant, or get it off our TV. We've only got 8 episodes left this season, and only 2 more seasons after this. Time's a wasting! Tick tock! The only way I can imagine this reconnecting with a major storyline is if Theon makes it home in time for the Entmoot (or whatever the hell it's called) and wins and persuades his countrymen to join an alliance to take down Ramsey. Kind of looking forward to Jaime and Cersei getting it together and beating down the cultists. As much as I liked Tyrion and the dragons, my favorite moment was Wun-Wun splatting that crossbowman, and the way it just completely deflated the remaining Crows who had been considering fighting. "uhhhh... Nope." I love Ser Davos. And I loved the final scene. You knew it was going to happen... and yet by the end they almost had me convinced it wasn't going to happen. And then when Ghost perked up I knew that it WAS going to happen and I was so happy. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

Boges Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 It's the Kingsmoot!!!! I think book readers are excited because it's the last thing from the books that we muggles who only watch the show have no insight on. I guess it's a conclave to choose the next leader of the Iron Born. Who wants to rule a bunch of shitty islands anyway? Quote
kimmy Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 "That's what I do. I drink, and I know things." Best line of the season so far. I liked "Next time I have an idea like that, punch me in the face" better. He could have said anything at that point... which made "punch me in the face" delightfully unexpected. But my favorite line was the atheist pleading with the broken priestess for a miracle. "I'm not a devout man... Seven Gods, Drowned Gods, Tree Gods, fooook 'em. It's all the same. I'm not asking the Lord of Light for help. I'm asking the woman who showed me that miracles exist." -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)
kimmy Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 It's the Kingsmoot!!!! Kingsmoot, Entmoot, whatever. I'm guessing they'll both be equally exciting. Unless the writers figure out some way to connect the Iron Isles to the wider world, I can't imagine anybody giving a crap. Back in season two, Robb and Catelynn strategized that the Iron Isles were an important ally because their naval power would be valuable in defeating the Lannisters and taking King's Landing. If the Iron Isles are going to become relevant again, maybe that means there's more war coming... but the only war in the near future looks like the inevitable battle to take Winterfell from Ramsey, and Winterfell is landlocked. I think book readers are excited because it's the last thing from the books that we muggles who only watch the show have no insight on. I guess it's a conclave to choose the next leader of the Iron Born. Who wants to rule a bunch of shitty islands anyway? Well, Prince Charles, for one. Guest Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 The episode 3 trailer shows a flashback of Ned Stark fighting Targaryen soldiers at what could be the Tower of Joy; the place where Robert's rebellion ends. I'm hoping we learn something about Lord Commander Snow's parents. Quote

I'm hoping we learn something about Lord Commander Snow's parents. R+L=J Jon Snow isn't Ned Stark's Son. He's actually the son of Ned's sister Lyanna. She was supposedly taken prisoner by Rhegar Targaryen and killed but the theory is, that they were actually in love. Therefore Jon Snow is a Targaryen and has a claim to the throne. Song of Ice and Fire. Ned took Jon back as his son because he knew that he would be killed should his true lineage be known. The other theory is that Tyrion is a Targaryen too. How else could he just walk up to a set of Dragons that's never seen him before and not get roasted. Edited May 3, 2016 by Boges Quote
Guest Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) The R+L=J is the prevalent fan theory. With only 18 episodes remaining I am hopeful that some of the gaps begin to filled in. Though, HBO may be purposefully vague on some of the past details with a Robert's Rebellion prequel movie in the works. I would be surprised if Tyrion turns out to be a dragon. I suspect his not being eaten was explained when he revealed that dragons are intelligent creatures. Edited May 3, 2016 by Guest Quote
Guest Posted May 3, 2016 Report Posted May 3, 2016 (edited) This is an interesting read about the rightful heir to the throne, in the HBO version, should Tommen soon wear a golden shroud as prophesied. He has no heirs and is legally considered a Baratheon. With Stannis, Shireen and Renly all dead and Gendry a bastard, who is next? Oddly enough the Baratheon family tree reveals that Tywin Lannister and Robert shared an ancestor. Tywin is dead, Jamie is a Kingsguard and Tyrion is a convicted murderer thus Cersei is the next in line to the throne. kimmy Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 He assumed the Bolton's would lose to Stannis. I reckon he's in the Eyrie hiding somewhere in that Moon Room. He didn't exactly stick his neck out, though. Neither Roose nor Ramsey have any reason to suspect Littlefinger intends them harm. With that plan having fallen through, you know he's got to be working on a new angle (or ten). I'm much more interested in finding out what that might be than I am in the Fishmoot in the Iron Isles. -k Quote (╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ Friendly forum facilitator! ┬──┬◡ノ(° -°ノ)

Robert simply stated that Ned should rule in his stead until his son Joffrey comes of age. Ned wrote 'legitimate heir' instead of the name Joffrey, but Gendy was neither legitimate nor even acknowledged by Robert with the bastard surname of Waters. Edited May 4, 2016 by Guest Quote

Edric was an acknowledged bastard and the one brought to Dragonstone for his king's blood, then helped to escape by Davos. You're right Gendry left with the Brothers without Banners. So Gendry's current storyline aligns with a completely different character. I doubt we'll here from him again, he was just a plot device to show Davos' morals and how he's willing to disobey Stannis. overthere Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 At some point HBO will have to wrap the series up, with or without new books and different directions from George Martin. But when? They have managed to keep many of the core actors so far, but the longer it runs and the more success they have the less likely it becomes they can afford to pay more actors huge sums. Either they finagle a conclusion, or they replace key characters with new/cheap faces and risk alienating viewers. Game of Thrones cannot become The Simpsons or Law and Order. The high costs are less associated with the price of actors and more to the several different shooting locations and the special effects needs. I believe the plan is to have a 7th season and a short 8th season. So 15 more episodes after this season. Quote
Guest Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Gendry in the series and Edric from the books may prove to be important or useful eventually as they carry some Targaryen blood. Robert, Stannis and Renly are second cousins of Daenerys. Especialy, if that Targayen blood and dragon handling theory turns out to be true. Quote

Boges Posted May 4, 2016 Report Posted May 4, 2016 Ned purposely changed the wording. You really think they would put so much emphasis on Ned changing the wording in season 1 without reason? They've put emphasis on lots of stuff then set it aside for multiple seasons. Wouldn't him doing that be more of the "treasonous" behaviour that justified his be-heading than any clue at the future king. Quote
