ToadBrother Posted March 26, 2011 Report Posted March 26, 2011 Sorry toad I have moved on and I believe I was expressing an opinion at the time. Uh huh. But somehow you felt that I had to provide proof to legitimize an opinion I have had.You aswell could not dis-prove an opinion that I had and then resorted to name calling and replying with half-wited comments that are not even funny or witty. Maybe if you show a little more entertainment value in what you say then ok but otherwise lets move on Your still the buddy,Buddy WWWTT You didn't frame it as an opinion but as a statement of fact, and then told me that I was wrong in stating the opposite. But if this makes you feel better about yourself, you go right ahead and think I've got amnesia. Quote

What with Harper Goverment already in contempt of Parliament, and Harper already weakened on the ethics file, this coalition BS will come back to bite Harper in the ass. Harper could dig himself out of this mess by telling the truth, but will he? Deal in 2004 had Harper singing different tune on opposition collaborationOTTAWA - Prime Minister Stephen Harper stood outside Rideau Hall on Saturday railing against the idea of opposition parties trying to band together and form a government. But seven years ago, Harper sent a letter to the same address suggesting he'd be open to that, right down to working with the very party he now says should have no role in the government. http://ca.news.yahoo.com/deal-2004-had-harper-singing-different-tune-opposition-20110326-134329-425.html Edited March 26, 2011 by Harry Quote

Harry Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 (edited) Clearly Chretien. Does anyone know how many clandestine meetings Harper had with Duceppe and Layton in 2004 before they reached their accord when Paul Matin was in power? Apparently there were quite a few. Maybe the media should ask Harper, or if we don't want to be lied to perhaps it would be better to ask Duceppe or Layton about that. Edited March 27, 2011 by Harry Quote

The Tories will doubtless try to make great hay out of how not negotiating the precise nature of the coalition somehow represents some vast difference, sort of like a Clinton "I got a b---job, but that's not sex" moment. Harry Posted March 27, 2011 Report Posted March 27, 2011 Here it comes, and this is just starting to warm up. This Harper hypocrisy issue is not going away unfortunately for Harper. Harper has made a big, big mistake bringing up this reckless coalition stuff for the Conservatives. "Not by a backroom deal" Harper says today. Reflect on Harper's 2004 backroom meetings in hotels with the separatists and the socialists as you asbsorb that statement. Harper is going to ridiculed out of office if he keeps it up. Harper’s hypocrisy problemStill, it’s worth pursuing Harper on this point. What would he do if his party was returned with a minority, or if the Liberals were? I presume he, too, would rule out a coalition, and I’m prepared to take him at his word on that point. But if he now believes it is “illegitimate” for one government to replace another without going back to the people, is he then formally swearing that he would never again make the kind of agreement with the other parties, whatever it was, he was so evidently prepared to make in 2004?http://www2.macleans.ca/2011/03/26/harpers-hypocrisy-problem/ Quote

Harpers letter on the ctv website (from the bloc website) says to explore options, not necessarily a coalition and why harper doesn't have to pay child support unlike ignatieff. Well yes, but Harper still jumped in bed with the Bloc. So far as I can see, there's little difference, other than the fact that the 2008 coalition got closer to actually toppling the government than the 2004 coalition. Quote
