I'm shocked that i can't find this ANYWHERE on mainstream news-media websites.

Former CIA analysts Ray McGovern stood silently with his back turned to Hillary Clinton while wearing a t-shirt that said "Veterans for Peace". He was then suddenly dragged off by some men, assaulted, viciously cuffed, then thrown in jail.

The video:

The title for that vid is wrong, he did not "heckle", he didn't say a word as you can see in the video until he was dragged away.

Best story i can find on this. Check out the photos of his wounds: Ray McGovern Discusses Brutal Arrest at Secretary Clinton's Internet Freedom Speech

On Tuesday, as U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton spoke on issues of free speech at George Washington University, 71-year-old former CIA analyst Ray McGovern was assaulted, dragged from the room and double handcuffed causing profuse bleeding.

What had he done to elicit this treatment? He stood in "silent witness."

When Secretary Clinton walked into the room, the audience rose and applauded before sitting back down. All but Ray McGovern, just as he had done hundreds of times before in the Catholic church without incident. McGovern described what happened next.

"It was my symbolic way of saying not everybody agrees with her. I turned my back to her and stood [silently]. When she came in I not only remained standing but I turned my back to her."

This time things were very different. Ray commented, "I didn't think that would get me roughed up and arrested for disorderly conduct."

"They grabbed me and the shock wore off. There was a real struggle. I shouted, 'This is America.' Then I said, 'Who are you?' This is a mystery to me. Who were they? The guy in the suit was the one who did the damage. He was brutal."

"They took me outside, put two sets of iron handcuffs that pierced my wrists. The bleeding went all over my pants. One guy said, "I pricked my finger" like it was his blood."

"I was bleeding in the car so I said 'I think you need to put some gauze on me.' They handed me to the DC police and they told I was being charged with disorderly conduct. I was booked, fingerprinted, mug shot taken. They put me in a little cell -- must be the same size as Bradley Manning's-- about six by four feet."

"It was about three hours that they held me until they let me out. I had to take a cab to the hospital where they x-rayed me, treated me and dressed my wounds. Then the doctors told me that since this was an assault on me, I had to inform the police about who had assaulted me. A little humor helped then."

He should lay charges. What occurred was unconstitutional.

Viciously cuffed? What does that mean? Maybe he viciously farted.

He can't "lay" charges, but he can sue.

It means they pierced his skin while cuffing him, causing enough bleeding to require medical attention.

So what does that tell you?

Freedom of speech and peaceful assembly, unless its directed at key federal officials?

Didn't realize that is what you wanted to debate and accomplish by your OP. Is it?

Bush Protesters arrested

Another arrest story

and another

yet again...

I could go on...

Spare us the outrage.

NO spare any who really care about civil liberties! The continued trampling of civil rights in the name of security under the Obama Administration is worse than having it under Bush; because at least Bush was setting a precedent with the use of torture, secret prisons, domestic spying etc.; but the fact that Obama and team are carrying out the Bush legacy to the letter means that it will be even more difficult for a future U.S. administration to undue the damage and bring back respect for liberty.

If I'm not mistaken, wasn't Hillary making a speech admonishing Arab governments to allow freedom of speech and the right to peacefully assemble and demonstrate against government policies? If it was, it's kind of ironic!

McGovern has long been an outspoken opponent of the more militaristic aspects of U.S. policy. He was easily as critical of Bush as he is of Obama.

How did he get into a press conference ? They take security seriously these days, as they should.

Hard to tell what he did as the camera didn't get on him until his escorts arrived....

The person that was arrested was Ray McGover, former CIA officer. All he did was stand up, and turn his back on Hillary while she was speaking. Peaceful protest. That did not warrent the treatment he got from the 'security' guards.

There is no way he caused any trouble. McGovern has a damn good reputation among many. He silently stood up, turned his back on her. The irony of this all, and I am not surprised it is lost on the likes of you, the irony is that Hillary was talking about other countries (like Egypt)and the people having the right to protest their governments and leaders.

McGovern was not the bad guy here.

Exactly. Standing up and turning around isn't trouble. If they just didn't bother him nobody would have known about the protest most likely.

Yes it is a bit ironic, the speech was about internet freedom, with governments like that of Egypt as the obvious backdrop.

I love how McGovern was started to be dragged away just as Hillary said "And then the government pulled the plug." Priceless!

I guess free speech and the right to protest is no longer valid in the USA. Which is one of the cornerstones of the US. You are supporting tyranny and facism, if you think people don't have the right to protest.

Would you rather shoot them like they did in Egypt and Tunisia, and Lybia, and Bahrain?

You are a disgusting human, if you can call yourself a human. Your moniker is a shame to all of Canada simply because of your ideologies.

Of course he demands obedience to authority!!!It's in his warped,Fascist loving DNA...

Remember,he thinks these people, bravely standing up for thier rights against Fascist regimes in the Arab world are Socialist/Islamofascist agitators...

Oh I know ... Mr. Canada (what a joke) supports fascism. We are seeing people unite against tyranny and fascism on a very large scale now in nothern Africa and the Middle East. It's going to spread to the point where it is going to touch all continents. The touch won't be gentle.

It's about time...(more than 30 years)..

I hope that the neoliberal crypto-fascists get touched here a little...
