Saipan Posted December 20, 2010 Report Posted December 20, 2010 Not true at all. I don't buy my eggs from factory farms. Free range chickens from a local farm only for me... I never said you did or didn't. I think a wolf killing a moose and humans treating animals humanely are apples and oranges. If I eat moose I don't eat apples or oranges. But you love those red herrings, don't you? Not really. Smoked maybe. I love moose. Quote
Guest TrueMetis Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Here we disagree. Morality comes from reason, or should in a rational individual. Morals that come from "faith" and "feelings" do not reflect reality. The fact that someone feels better because they keep their chicken in a larger cage does not make them more moral than someone who keeps their chicken in a smaller cage. No Morality is one of the few things that should come from feelings and empathy. (Though it can be backed up by science and reasoning) Now I agree with you on chickens because chickens are stupid, they don't much care as long as they are fed. With other so call "higher" animals this always isn't the case. Some animals just can't be confined to small cages, others it depends on how you do it, and other it can only be done at certain times. Saipan Posted December 21, 2010 Report Posted December 21, 2010 Keeping a living creature in a cage is still keeping it in a cage, whether that cage is the size of your farm or the size of a little box. Easy to test. Try to live on few acre farm for a month and then one month in a closet. You are just trying to make yourself feel better by thinking that what you do is any different, like a slave owner who thinks himself superior because he gives his slaves better clothing and more food than his peers. You can improve that by giving farm animals free vote of elected representatives. Quote
bloodyminded Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 And that hurts them how? Of course this ignores that not all cows destined for veal are raised this way. My link No it's a show were she and her family do things to show how Alaskan they are even though it's clear she's never done most of it before. When it's not annoying stupid it's actually quite funny. Like all reality shows, it's often faked...like any drama or comedy, it's "scripted," at least to a degree; but since they don't hire professional writers (or writers at all) they tend to fall back on cliche and outworn, stupid little scenarios. Palin's show is now cross-pollinated, with "Kate Plus 8" making guest appearances and so on. Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings

bloodyminded Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 (edited) And you have evidence to each? If you've watched the show, you already know I"m right. If you haven't...the evidence you seek is there for the watching. The very fact of editing for content, of the selection process, is a type of scripting. People "behaving normally" as if there's no cameras and lights and soundmen present!...seriously, let's try to stay rational about this. Being on camera--especially for an ambitious politician, aware of her audience and advised by political experts--is obviously not going to act "naturally," and let untrammelled "truth" get in the way. Also, like I said, there was the guest appearance of "Kate Plus 8" on her show. TLC is the "reality tv" channel, and there is very little "reality" to any of it. The_Squid Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Less is more. Verbosity is meandering about nothing in particular. Perhaps, but at least they can form coherent sentences. Quote

guyser Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 I watched, so I know you're wrong. No actually you couldnt be more wrong. The very fact of editing for content, of the selection process, is a type of scripting. It is scripted. Quote
guyser Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 Seriously, who cares? You do obviously. Thanks for proving it. Quote
Saipan Posted December 23, 2010 Report Posted December 23, 2010 It is scripted. What isn't? Is it good or bad? Can I see the script? I'd like to make some changes. Quote
guyser Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 What isn't? Is it good or bad? Can I see the script? I'd like to make some changes. Thank you for agreeing. DOnt know why you said otherwise earlier. Quote
Saipan Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Thank you for agreeing. Thanks for watching. Agree with what? DOnt know why you said otherwise earlier. Said what? Post my words. Quote

Topaz Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Everyone chill! Remember there an election not far off and anything to put a Liberal in the spotlight helps the Tories. Harper dislike Trudeau and Harper need Quebec, its all about politics, end of story. Quote
bloodyminded Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 Thanks for watching. Agree with what? Said what? Post my words. Why do you continue to play this game? You denied that the show was scripted in any way (including in the typical Reality Television manner in which I described, which isn't even a debatable point, actually)--"I watched, so I know you're wrong" were your exact words. ...until you conceded it was scripted. Why are you arguing with yourself? Quote As scarce as truth is, the supply has always been in excess of the demand. --Josh Billings
Saipan Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 You denied that the show was scripted I don't see anything scripted. ...until you conceded it was scripted. Soon as you show me the script. Again, where is it? And once more, is it good or bad if it was scripted??? Quote
bloodyminded Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 I don't see anything scripted. Soon as you show me the script. Again, where is it? So, you didn't read my expalantion of this point. You could go all the way back a few short posts and read it, if you're actually curious. Which you aren't...which begs the question of why you're responding this way. And once more, is it good or bad if it was scripted??? Good or bad is a judgement call...but like I said, since, like reality shows generally, it is scripted very poorly, in a banal way, using cliched little sitcom tropes and a pretence to "reality"....it is inferior in quality to non-"reality" programming generally. further, it is not actually "reality"...though it explicitly pretends to be so. Saipan Posted December 24, 2010 Report Posted December 24, 2010 ...which begs the question of why you're responding this way. You're free to respond or not. Just like you're free to watch or not. And you choose to watch. Quote
bloodyminded Posted December 25, 2010 Report Posted December 25, 2010 You're free to respond or not. Just like you're free to watch or not. And you choose to watch.
