Topaz Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 The Dec.21st deadline is coming up for the area and since Quebec wants up to 180Mil from Ottawa looks like it they won't be getting it, especially since they said no to Edmonton Expo. So, were does that leaves the Conservative MP's from Quebec? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/politics/the-politics-of-sports-funding-weigh-heavy-for-harper-government/article1812752/ Quote
Shady Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 The last time I checked, we're running a deficit. There is no money for funding this project. Unless we think borrowing money from China to pay for an arena in Quebec is a good investment. Quote
The_Squid Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 No money for a stadium. THat's a ridiculous idea. Taxpayers should not be funding these things. If Quebecers are so stupid that they only vote for the political party with the biggest bags of cash, then Canada has a problem. Vote Bloc... punish the Feds... but the Bloc won't be drumming up any cash for projects in Quebec... Time for Canada to vote for separation from Quebec....??? Quote
Oleg Bach Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 They are now offically a nation within a nation..kind of like tenants...so they were never granted real rights..like being a country within a country..which would have been the real deal - they were stupid enough to become offical tenants...as compared to being an real country of their own - they lose both ways - pay your own rent or be independent..no funding for these guys...They get to be their own traditional culture - where as we here in Toronto Ontario are getting colonized...I say fund the ones that are suffering the most....like Ontario...after all we need more HOCKEY arenas for more white kids that are not being born..oh well all is lost.. AngusThermopyle Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 Funding this project would open up a giant can of worms, not the least of which would relate to the huge levels of corruption in the Quebecois construction industry. Quote I yam what I yam - Popeye
fellowtraveller Posted November 25, 2010 Report Posted November 25, 2010 It will go like this: the provincial govt will up their portion of the tab to $300 or $400 million and it will get done. What will be overlooked is the feds end up paying for the entire thing no matter what, as always in La Belle Province. Merci, suckas! Quote The government should do something.

So, were does that leaves the Conservative MP's from Quebec?Topaz, are you brain dead? You ask this question of a federal subsidy for a Quebec arena on an English-language forum, based in Lethbridge. What answer do you expect? Why even ask the question? In Canada, Topaz, you apparently provoke wedge issues. You want to divide Canadians. ----- Topaz, there's a greater issue that you have ignored. Harper's government recently refused to provide federal funding to Edmonton's proposal to hold a World Exposition in 2017. And yet, Harper's government funded over a billion for a summit involving federal politicians. His government also funds public servants and their lavish pensions. Why do we pay taxes? Do we pay taxes for projects of benefit to ourselves, or do we pay taxes to benefit the bureaucrats/politicians in Ottawa? Edited November 26, 2010 by August1991 Quote
Hydraboss Posted November 26, 2010 Report Posted November 26, 2010 Like this is even a question. Kwebek...culture...art...french heritage. Those are all the words you need to know to get funded in that territory. They'll get the money (along with weak excuses of how "it's different" when the feds fund everything and anything Kwebek wants). As for Edmonton, THANK GOD they refused that black hole. The idiot Mandel constantly wants money to put on stupid things to put Edmonton on the elusive "map". After years of him wasting other people's money, there's still no sign of this "map". Maybe it's in french? Quote "racist, intolerant, small-minded bigot" - AND APPARENTLY A SOCIALIST (2010) (2015)Economic Left/Right: 8.38 3.38 Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 3.13 -1.23

I'd love to see a shot Ricky Ray cluttering up the field for the Argholes!!!! Actually, Brennan did graduate and with a pile of NCAA football records to his credit. The guy is designed for the Canadian game and yet languishes after being cut by both the Skins and the Raiders. Actually he languishes in a Hawaii hospital after being in a serious car accident there last week. I really am baffled by this. This kid is another Tom Wilkinson and if I was a CFL GM I would go out and get him. Surely a starting role in the CFL has to be more worthwhile than a late cut by an NFL team or something in the UFL. WOW! It was just a question of a topic that has been talked about and I wonder what people on this forum thought. Who knows were everyone live on this forum. No one knows what Harper would actual do when it come to votes, especially in Quebec. Why do we pay taxes? Well, under this government WE have to pay taxes because this government has lower corporate taxes so much, they have to get their revenue from some where and they elected US! Quote
