The last time I checked, we're running a deficit. There is no money for funding this project. Unless we think borrowing money from China to pay for an arena in Quebec is a good investment.

They are now offically a nation within a nation..kind of like tenants...so they were never granted real rights..like being a country within a country..which would have been the real deal - they were stupid enough to become offical tenants...as compared to being an real country of their own - they lose both ways - pay your own rent or be independent..no funding for these guys...They get to be their own traditional culture - where as we here in Toronto Ontario are getting colonized...I say fund the ones that are suffering the most....like Ontario...after all we need more HOCKEY arenas for more white kids that are not being born..oh well all is lost..

Funding this project would open up a giant can of worms, not the least of which would relate to the huge levels of corruption in the Quebecois construction industry.

It will go like this: the provincial govt will up their portion of the tab to $300 or $400 million and it will get done.

What will be overlooked is the feds end up paying for the entire thing no matter what, as always in La Belle Province.

Expo schmexpo this is hockey, it's Quebec, fund it. Give them 200 mil and then ensure you have a Canada wordmark on the sign or something. Bring back the Nordiques! Heck give Edmonton 200 mil so they can have a hockey team too!

Topaz, there's a greater issue that you have ignored. Harper's government recently refused to provide federal funding to Edmonton's proposal to hold a World Exposition in 2017. And yet, Harper's government funded over a billion for a summit involving federal politicians. His government also funds public servants and their lavish pensions.

Why do we pay taxes?

Do we pay taxes for projects of benefit to ourselves, or do we pay taxes to benefit the bureaucrats/politicians in Ottawa?

Kwebek...culture...art...french heritage. Those are all the words you need to know to get funded in that territory. They'll get the money (along with weak excuses of how "it's different" when the feds fund everything and anything Kwebek wants).

As for Edmonton, THANK GOD they refused that black hole. The idiot Mandel constantly wants money to put on stupid things to put Edmonton on the elusive "map". After years of him wasting other people's money, there's still no sign of this "map". Maybe it's in french?

Actually, Brennan did graduate and with a pile of NCAA football records to his credit. The guy is designed for the Canadian game and yet languishes after being cut by both the Skins and the Raiders. Actually he languishes in a Hawaii hospital after being in a serious car accident there last week.

I really am baffled by this. This kid is another Tom Wilkinson and if I was a CFL GM I would go out and get him. Surely a starting role in the CFL has to be more worthwhile than a late cut by an NFL team or something in the UFL.

Really? You think I have the power to divide Canada up over a question??? WOW! It was just a question of a topic that has been talked about and I wonder what people on this forum thought. Who knows were everyone live on this forum. No one knows what Harper would actual do when it come to votes, especially in Quebec. Why do we pay taxes? Well, under this government WE have to pay taxes because this government has lower corporate taxes so much, they have to get their revenue from some where and they elected US!
