Michael Hardner Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 (edited) Australian Press Article NORTH Korea's young dictator-in-waiting has burnished his leadership credentials by launching a deadly artillery raid on South Korean territory, causing Seoul to scramble F16 jet fighters and return fire. Two South Korean marines were killed and at least 15 people were wounded as shells rained down on Yeonpyeong island, off the north-west coast of South Korea. Hundreds of terrified residents huddled in bunkers or fled by boat as buildings and trees went up in flames and smoke billowed above the island. Advertisement: Story continues below The attack occurred half way between Seoul and the Yellow Sea location where 46 South Korean sailors were sunk in a torpedo attack in March. Seoul returned fire with 80 shells and scrambled fighter jets over the island. It also put its military on the highest alert level as President Lee Myung-bak ordered officials to ''respond sternly'' but to avoid aggravating the situation. What will result from this incident ? Is Kim Jong-un crazy, or is there a plan here ? Is this the beginning of the end ? How will these events unfold ? Will China finally stand aside ? Grim days in Korea. GostHacked Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 Hmm Kind of similar to the South Korean ship being sunk a couple months ago. The US and SK were doing exercises only 57 miles away from where the ship was sunk. http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/06/05/ap-enterprise-alleged-nkorean-attack-sub-came-near-south-korea-anti-sub/ This is one to watch for sure. South Korea can talk tough but there really isn't much the South or the US can do about it unless they want an incredibly bloody war. China is far more cooperative than everyone gives them credit for. They appear to be the "puppetmasters" but in the end, all they want is for North Korea to stay relatively stable no matter what government is in place in Pyongyang and they've supported measures that restrict the north's activity. Since the DMZ is probably the worlds largest mine field, the only way to go to escape the country is through the northern border with China. If the country collapses, millions will flood in and China fears it can't handle that. Quote

Also it seems that South Korea and the US were again doing exercises in the same area where the crap is going down. The firing came amid South Korean military drills in the area. North Korea's military had sent a message to South Korea's armed forces early Tuesday to demand that the drills stop, but the South continued them, another military official said.During the drills, South Korean marines on the island shot artillery toward southern waters, away from North Korea, the official said. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity, citing military rules. Quote

Your source of news are from powerful people controlled mainstream western media that never have any credibility. What you can hear of is always only from one side, you did not get any information from the other side on why they shot. It is strange even if you have 2 kids you would probably ask each one from the reason if they fight each other and try to find the truth and encourage them to negotiate a solution. but you never ask that question when 2 nations did that. Why so many people so stupid? Or if they just intentionally smartly ignore those for their own interest. Oleg Bach Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 The news was sickening...the idea of a bunch of protein and fat starved North Koreans being in structed to train their guns on the south and fire...as if these North Koreans actually have a choice to refuse dictitorial instruction from a man and family that are of limited intelligence and who understand one thing.. That - if you gain power and create a military force - you don't have to be smart to rule - because you have one rule in place that states "do what you are told or we will kill you" .. Our biggest importer of goods is China - they are ambitious at present... My proposal would be this...Tell China that the west will STOP buying their goods and will NOT pay their debt - UNLESS they put an end to the nut bar mafia family that runs North Korea...only CHINA can safely defuse and rid the area of the little lunitics...but for some reason they like having a henchman..to disturb and distress the west.. The situation is much like OUR relationship with Saudi Arabia and Pakistan - who support terrorism and irritate us with their double dealing pranks - We can not have it both ways..A friend can NOT be an enemy also! Because we love money - our high archy makes the decision to enrich the enemy that enriches them - This is improper and wrong...China should be put in it's place - no matter what wealth is generated by manufacture...Saudi Arabia should also be reprimanded in a serious manner no matter how much oil wealth they generate... We must stop making deals with the proverbial devil - In the end the devil always and utterly betrays you...China has betrayed the west through it's surrogate North Korea. Both Koreas should be united and China should have a piece of the pie...no much but enough to satisfy this monster. Quote

China had never betrayed. China try hard to be a friend of west, but west actually is the evil. Both the 2 world wars were start from the west, aboriginals were killed by west in Africa, Americas, Australia, and other places. Everything western took was filled with blood. China is just like Faust try to deal with evil, and even wish the Mefistofele change to be good, but that is so impossible because all western want is take everything for themselves, it just like lions, wolves, and other wild animals that want to eat. Both Koreas should be united and China should have a piece of the pie...no much but enough to satisfy this monster. The west is the monster. NK is just a tiny creature that can do nothing meaningful except others want to use it as a reason. GostHacked Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 So essentially it has been reported that the US and South Korea were doing exercises in the same area. So what are the possibilities of a stray bullet from the US or South Korea being interpreted as an act of war on North Korea. Hence the barrage of artillery from North Korea. If exercises were going on, was North Korea notified of this to prevent something like this from happening? Or is this all part of the exercise? Quote

Here should not belong to the west, it should belong to the aboriginal people. There are evil everywhere, even now I go back to China, there are full of evils that are taught by western media, western movies, western liars. And western robbed so much wealth from the whole world, it should have my part that for me to use, it is unfair people of developing country just have to work like slaves to create wealth, while western countries took wealth away with international laws, banks, wars and others, but are just unable to use their work result. All people in the world should have the right to go wherever they want to go, that should be the real meaning of the human right. And that model followed capitalism greatly in the 1990s. I wish China can insist its own model. Because China create the wealth by working, instead of robbing. I wish it can be successful at last. That is a sustainable. China was the richest nation for 2 thousand years with it own model. The Western robbery model is not sustainable, when nobody no place can be robbed, it will fall. But before that, it cost life lost in many places of the world, generate poverty in other nations, generate violence and crime everywhere. nicky10013 Posted November 23, 2010 Report Posted November 23, 2010 I don't understand the South Korean mentality. They have been repeatedly attacked by their neighbouring country, and yet they sit and do nothing, inviting further attack, showing total weakness. What is to deter North Korea from future attacks such as this if South Korea does not respond at all? I guess SK is just playing dead, hoping the bear will lose interest and attack something else. The South returned fire with 80 rounds of artillery, so to say there was NO response is simplifying the matter. As for the larger question of why doesn't the South "respond" with a heavier hand? Well, the North has I believe the 4th largest standing army on the planet and has nuclear weapons with a leadership, and more importantly a military command, willing to use it. The South doesn't do anything larger because the entire peninsula would be damaged. Quote

I don't think so. North Korea would be crushed within days if a real war broke out and everyone knows that. But there are 11 million Koreans living in range of the hundreds of rockets the North Koreans could fire on day one. That is a pretty good reason to ignore the dweeb with the stick. My guess is your house isnt in range of NK artillary. Bloodiest hour? A bit of an exaggeration, most likely. And you're right, my house isn't in range of NK artillery. But guess what, if it was, I'd be damn angry that my government was doing very little / nothing in response to NK's use of that artillery. Would you just happily sit in your house, knowing full well that your government is doing nothing to whatsoever to deter NK from blowing it to bits? I'd rather go and fight for my survival than sit at home and wait to die. Quote
