I heard this on the news earlier today, if we thought the press practiced yellow journalism these days and go out of their way to smear a candidate, this confirms it.

For Americans I've included some info. for complaints

Republican senate candidate Joe Miller’s campaign has released the audio of a voicemail left on campaign spokesman Randy DeSoto’s phone that reveals local reporters were discussing how they hoped to find a child molester at the rally or the kind of violence that had occurred before Kentucky senate candidate Rand Paul’s debate last week.

Here’s the transcript provided by the Miller campaign

File a complaint with the FCC. The station owners are required by law to provide a response.

Yah him lying to the publics face was all the medias fault. You are crazy.

I'm talking about the audio from the CBS affiliate. Try to stay on topic.

Don't you mean the Republican candidate? I believe Joe Miller was the target of the media plot.

Sorry, yes I do, I can't change the title.

CBS reporters are on tape saying, 'Let’s find a child molester in the crowd that supports Miller,'"corrupt bastards." is right.

It really does speak to how much the media manipulates to push their own agendas instead of reporting evenly and fairly. They are supposed to report the news, not make it up as they go along.

The media are supposed to be objectively reporting on the news, not speculating on what would make a good smear of one side. Pathetic.

This is not true at all....objective reporting won't pay the bills. Why do you have this expectation of a foreign television network(s)?

Economics trumps Virtue.

"While the recording is real, the allegations are untrue," said Bever. "The recording was the result of a cell phone not being hung up after a call was placed to Randy DeSoto, Joe Miller campaign spokesperson, Thursday afternoon to discuss Joe Miller's appearance on that evening's newscast. That phone call was placed near the end of a coverage planning meeting in our newsroom regarding that evening's Miller rally in downtown Anchorage. The group of KTVA news personnel was reviewing potential "what-if" scenarios, discussing the likelihood of events at the rally and how KTVA might logistically disseminate any breaking news."

Sounds like they are busy covering their butts. He doesn't mention "We can put out a Twitter and Facebook alert". LOL

Looks like this is the old Breitbart editing the tapes trick. We all fell for it again. What a bunch of morons. Why do we keep posting stuff that is made up by Breitbart? He has a history of this stuff.

This has nothing to do with your favourite boogeyman Breitbart. The Miller campaign released the audio to several outlets, including Politico. Once again, try to stay on topic.

Nope Breitbart released a out of context clip Miller picked it up.

Here you can go to the washington post a LEARN all about it. I love when people who know nothing about anything talk.

Once again you're incorrect. What was released was the audio after the conversation had ended, and the reporters thought they had hung up the phone. There's nothing out of context about it. Stop lying.

Accept the whole clip. As the WASHINGTON POST, see that a real paper not a source from a known liar and manipulator, says:

It's possible that the audio Big Journalism posted is all that was recorded on the cell phone. But even if this were the case, running with this audio alone, if that was all that existed, seems pretty questionable.

That's like saying because NBC News once lied about trucks catching on fire, we can't believe anything from NBC News anymore.

Your link also suggests that the audio is probably the entire portion of the after the hang up non-hang up. I guess you choose just to ignore that part of it huh?

Stop defending corrupt reporters just because a Republican is involved. Pretend it's a Democrat involved, and adjust your anwswer appropriately.

Yah Breitbart has a history of editing clips and auto to suit his needs. So it is not like saying that at all. Here we have one man who is known to lie about everything, remember when he edit clip of Acorn out of context to get them shut down? So why should we believe him? Because you want us to got it. No thank you, we know you are misinformed.

You mean like every other media outlet. Did you also know that movies are edited? Song are too! Oh, and television shows edit! :o

I am glade you are ok with selective editing. I however am not. Please don't down play the media any media lying to people. It is wrong.

Punked, that's a pretty weak response to say it's just edited favorably. Even the media outlet in question came up with a better one than that.

The facts, however, speak for themselves. You are quite able to see the facts in the head stomping case, why are you so unable to see them here?

This is the end of a conversation, I promise you I have said a lot things which taken out of context sound honorable but in context make perfect sense. So here we have a man who has a history of editing and taking clips out of context releasing a clip which the news outlet says is out of context. If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.

Posted

The outlet admits that the conversation took place(no duh), but they say the conversation was a hypothetical what if, not a strategy. With what's been released, you can't tell either way what the intent was. But you shouldn't have to because no one takes part in a conversation like that unless they don't like the subject.

Imagine an Obama fan saying at the town hall meeting he's appearing at, let's find the registered sex offender because there's going to be at least one. It would never be said or thought of. Only an opponent would think like that, and a reporter that has that mindset has dropped the mike and picked up pompoms.

Posted

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck.

I agree. That's why it's so ridiculous of you to defend their behavior. Talking about trying to find a sex offender in order to smear Joe Miller needs no context. It is what it is.

There is nothing out of context, the station had admitted to it but is spinning, the reporters are with the CBS Anchorage-based TV station KTVA - funny thing you know, the recording is real, but the allegations are not :P LOL

UPDATE: The National Republican Senatorial Committee has spoken out on the incident. “If this voicemail is authentic, which i[t] appears to be, it is deeply disturbing,” said NRSC communications director Brian Walsh in a statement. “It should trouble all Americans that any member of the media would attempt to purposefully smear a nominee for the U.S. Senate. CBS owes an immediate explanation to Joe Miller and his campaign.”

http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2010/10/31/phone-recording-sets-off-firestorm-in-alaska/

Employees at a CBS affiliate in Anchorage left an accidental voicemail for an aide to GOP Senate candidate Joe Miller in which they discussed and laughed about the possibility of reporting on the appearance of sex offenders at a Miller rally. And they chatted about responding with a Twitter alert to “any sort of chaos whatsoever” including the candidate being “punched.”

Jerry Bever, general manager for KTVA, said in a statement that a call to Miller spokesman Randy DeSoto to discuss the candidate’s planned appearance on a newscast wasn’t disconnected after the conversation ended. The call took place during a KTVA staff meeting to plan coverage of that evening’s Miller rally in downtown Anchorage.

I do like the idea of a 'scumbag journalist' registry LOL

Sometimes justice so sweet. Despite the media's blatant attempts to smear Miller, the Republican candidate, he is now leading in the latest polling by 7 points. It's the Public Policy Poll, a Democratic Party-affiliated polling firm based in Raleigh, North Carolina. He had previously been trailing by up to 10 points, but I think the outrage generated by this incident has helped, not hurt as the reporters in Alaska had hoped.

The mainstream liberal media seems to be out of control. Apparently Christine O'Donnell;s campaign arranged a 30-minute ad buy with a local Delaware TV station. But they "forgot" to run the ad. I'd say it was just a mix up, but they were contacted, and later on, "forgot" to run the ad a second time. What the hell is going on?

O'Donnell has trouble airing 30-minute TV ad in Delaware

So O'Donnell turned to a public access television station, Delaware Channel 28. She told supporters at a Tea Party Express rally on Sunday in Wilmington to watch that night at 11:30. "Tell everyone to tune in," she said at the rally.

"1 minute until the premiere of our 30 minute feature. Tune in to meet all the heart warming people I've met on the campaign trail. Ch. 28," O'Donnell tweeted Sunday night.

But the ad never aired.

A few minutes later, O'Donnell tweeted: "Okay... this is NOT our show! Must be a programming mix up. We will get back to you..."

The source, who spoke only on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive campaign operations, said the station "forgot to air it."

Then on Monday morning, O'Donnell's campaign issued a press release saying the ad would air on Channel 28 at 10 a.m. The candidate tweeted: "The Inspiring TV show about Delawareans will air at 10 aam and 3 pm today on Channel 28. Please watch this before you vote."

And again, it did not air.

"This isn't our show either! We are told channel 28 'forgot' to air it...both times... even though we paid for the time slot last week," O'Donnell tweeted shortly after 10 a.m.

Officials at the station could not immediately be reached for comment.

They just forgot about it LOL the media really is out of control

CBS is throwing KTVA under the bus

After being inundated with phone calls, CBS News in New York released this statement late Sunday: “KTVA News is owned by the Alaska Broadcasting Co., not CBS. No CBS staffers were involved and CBS has no knowledge of and no comment on these allegations.”
