Conservatives stalled on the West Coast

Recommended Posts

The election strategy is not unfolding as it should for the Conservatives in British Columbia.

As we can see from the figures below the Conservatives are down substantially from the combined Alliance/PC vote in the last election.

The results of the last election, on November 27, 2000, compared to the latest SES CPAC polling released last week, are as follows:

Libs: 41% to 34%, down 7%

Cons: 38% to 29%, down 9%

New Dem: 9% to 29%, up 20%

Green/Other: 2% to 10%, up 8%

Norm Spector, right wing political columnist/analyst stated this evening on the New VIland TV weekly political show "Right On', that most of the Green vote will collapse on election day and go to the NDP. Spector also stated that the Greens will not win any seats in BC.

As a result, the Tories have had to change their election strategy, Instead of being able to keep Harper in Eastern Canada, the conservatives are rushing their leader, Stephen Harper out to British Coluimbia in a desperate attempt to try and salvage their campaign on the West Coast.

What happened?

Instead of keeping Harper in Ontario, they are rushing their leader, Stephen Harper out to BC tomorrow, Monday June 7, 2004, in a desperate attempt to try and salvage their campaign on the West Coast.

Funny...

...I heard that Harper would be giving a press conference in Quebec City tomorrow.

Is he flying out to B.C. after that?

As for rushing their leader out to B.C....

...there is still 3 weeks left in the campaign. I really doubt they've hit the panic button at the CPHQ.

He's got lotsa time to come here.

Maple we all know that you are a hack for the NDP, but i never thought you would try to mislead people. What you are saying is very fasle and untrue. Harpers campaign long ago scheculed that trip to British Columbia after the week they spent in Onatrio, it natural for then to go out west. They have events set up already for Monday, I would hardly call it desperate. Go and check the website if you want and stop trying to lie and mislead the people of the blog to achieve some type of partisanship. I seems to me that you and the NDP are the ones who are looking desperate if you feel the need to mislead and not tell the truth. ;)

If a right wing political commentator Norm Spector is correct with his analysis, about the surging strength and rising potential for the New Democrats, the Conservatives could end up in third place in BC, which would result in serious seat losses for the Conservatives on the West Coast.

What do you think happened to cause such a dramatic change/drop in the Conservative fortunes in BC? ;)

Did we watch the same show Maple?

I heard one of the hosts (Your Comrade Moe perhaps?) say that the Liberals were going to be pretty much a none factor in the Province.....so with that said, who is going to be in second place (assuming the Socialists take first  ) The pot party perhaps......maybe the Rhinos?

Now didn't Comrade Moe also say that the Tories should have most of Northern/the interior/north island of BC locked up?

And didn't he also say that voters in some of the ridings in greater Vancouver (where the NDP is not a factor) that people should vote Conservative as opposed to Liberal.....I find it kinda strange that a "Party" member like Moe would throw his support behind Harper...don't you?

All i seem to remember, is that some of the urban ridings will be a fight between the Tories and the NDP.

Harper had to change his plans about coming out to the West Coast because he now has a bigger fire to put out, started by the Liberals, in Quebec.

How do you spell CONSERVATIVE CRISES?

Stoker.........you might want to get yourself a hearing aid. Chill man. :D

BTW stoker, if you get confused again like you did last evening, you can always watch a repeat of the show at midnight. Which riding are you in?

Gordon Campbell is hurting both the Liberals and Conservatives out here in BC. He did hijack the Liberal party revived by Gordon Campbell but does talk the same type of talk as Harper. We have had extreme cuts for seniors, health care, children's ministries. Destruction of Unions; underage children allowed to work. Notices from the UN regarding this lowered rights for women and children. Tax cuts that only left money in the pockets of the rich while the rest of us face higher fees, gas taxes. prescriptions for seniors, etc Doctors, nurses, and management get huge raises 18 to 23%; while practical nurses, lab workers, dieticians and all other health workers either were layed of in favour of cheaper contract labour or had their wages reduced 14%.

The rich get richer and the middle class goes broke.
