punked Posted August 30, 2010 Report Posted August 30, 2010 Points of order please: 1) The initiative is called "Race to the Top"...not "Race For The Top". 2) Some states chose not to even particpate in the program, though most attempted for at least Phase 1 (there are 2 Phases) 3) There are political and labor union reasons why several states did not pursue applications with vigor. http://www.ed.gov/news/press-releases/nine-states-and-district-columbia-win-second-round-race-top-grants ...we now return you to your regular Canadian programming..."Guessing About America". 41 states participated. As for labour unions you mean teacher unions which Chirstie has shown he doesn't care for. Sorry this guy is a dummy who has cost his state half a billion dollars and then lied about it. Not only that but the head of his Ed department asked to be fired instead of being forces to resign so that he could collect Unemployment (that thing Chirstie and many republicans think is gamed) Chirstie happily gave him that right. Ouch poor Shady and his Hypocrite governor. Quote

Several factions within the unions oppose the program for their own threatened interests having to do with accountability, tenure, and pay. Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Some states accepted the standards but did not want to or missed the dead line to apply. http://www2.ed.gov/programs/racetothetop/phase1-applications/score-summary.pdf Quote

punked Posted September 10, 2010 Report Posted September 10, 2010 (edited) Christie he is the guy who cost his state 400 million dollars, then fired his guy in charge so he could collect EI, than lied to the media about it right? Same Christie? He might not of needed to fight with the teachers if he got that 400 million he would have got only for education from the Feds but he screwed it up and blamed everyone but the guy at the top. Himself. Of course you like him he is a screw up who cost his state money. Edited September 10, 2010 by punked Quote
