M.Dancer Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 That was our first clue that climbing into bed with one dictator to defeat another was a dumb idea. Well if it is a dumb idea I'm sure you know a better way it could have been done. I'm all ears... Quote RIGHT of SOME, LEFT of OTHERS If it is a choice between them and us, I choose us
DogOnPorch Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 Now what do we tell the people that suffered under the oppression of the dictators that we backed to defeat the communists, tell them to keep on taking it for the Gipper and be patient your turn is coming? For purposes of accuracy, revisionist, which dictators are we refering to? Quote Nothing cracks a turtle like Leon Uris.
M.Dancer Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 I've never tried to justify things like Dresden or Hiroshima but I'm pretty certain you will. Of course, you seem to prefer never ending war. Never the less the the bombings of Dresden and Hiroshima were justified at the time and the justification stands today. Oleg Bach Posted February 25, 2010 Report Posted February 25, 2010 That's not what I asked. The question was: any guesses as to where the VX nerve agent precursors went? Re: biological weapons. I assume you mean anthrax...I don't think Saddam managed to weaponize anthrax...but he did have samples provided to him for animal vaccine purposes. Still wondering where the missing nukes are that were part of the Soviet arsenal? Oh - and where is this H1N1 thing? Quote
Bonam Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Now what do we tell the people that suffered under the oppression of the dictators that we backed to defeat the communists, tell them to keep on taking it for the Gipper and be patient your turn is coming? By the way there's still lots of people suffering under the oppression of communist allies we have in the WOT - the same WOT we waging against the more radical allies that turned against us after defeating communists for us. It's not our duty to give other people freedom. When a people want freedom badly enough, they take it them ourselves. If they fail to do so, it is mainly their own problem. The reason we stood against communism was because it was necessary for the good of the Western nations (the same reason we stand against militant Islam today). A fundamental precept of communism was that it had to be exported all throughout the world, and we could not let that happen. The fact that some of the Soviet and their satellite people became free after the fall of the Soviet Union was just an extra benefit (though it certainly was a major event for those peoples). However necessary or logical the progression from WW1 and 2 on through to the Cold War and today's WOT looks to the West it remains a deeply immoral progression to the vast numbers of people who are still being oppressed by the dictators we ally ourselves with. The number of dictatorial nations and people living under them has declined over the past decades, thanks in part to the actions of the West. Most of eastern Europe is no longer dictatorial, as it once was. We can only do so much at a time. What do you propose, automatically declaring war on every dictatorship ASAP? And I'm supposed to be proud of how the West is/has dealt with all the enemies it's had and still has to this day. You're not "supposed" to be anything. You live (I assume) in the West and thus have the freedom to be proud of it or not be proud of it, or just plain not care about it, as you wish. Quote
eyeball Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 What do you propose, automatically declaring war on every dictatorship ASAP? No, just man up to it when circumstances force us into becoming allies with them. How hard is that? Quote A government without public oversight is like a nuclear plant without lead shielding.
bush_cheney2004 Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 No, just man up to it when circumstances force us into becoming allies with them. How hard is that? "We" do....just count the official state visits...including the Pope! Quote Economics trumps Virtue.

Dispite science and money and the best life extentions in the world this thug needs a hug. Dictatorial Dick Cheney has a boo boo in his chest...to bad time has taken him out- he did supply a governance of sort to keep extremist Obamaism in check- what rat is going to watch the other rats with the heartless tin man in decline? Oleg Bach Posted February 26, 2010 Report Posted February 26, 2010 Oleg is a classic example as to how Time = Pizza. In my hood there are these stainless steel art installations- "time equals money" and all sorts of other brain washing crap---as for the pizza crap - no way in hell am I going to spend thirty bucks on a piece of bread with some cheeze smeared on it- a two dollar meal of worthlessness---last night I played with about 10 musicans including a Haitian that was visiting-- the boys soared like angels-- it was a private world class event--what have you done lately?
