Now I was poor myself once, but I was never whiny poor. I was working poor. I preferred to work at rock bottom jobs rather than be a leech on society, and gradually, through repeated efforts and education, managed to succeed to the extent I suppose you'd now call me upper middle class. But I lived with a lot of people whose mentality I still see today - though thankfully, not up close any more.

You can see such people most visibly on display in Vancouver. Vancouver seems to have succeded in gather together just about the worst collection of trash and scum the country has available. It's got masses of people who are of no earthly value to anyone, including themselves; criminals, lowlifes, junkies and welfare lifers. The Olympics have brought out some of the more energetic ones in protest.

From what I can gather, their outrage and indignation is that "the government" is spending a sum of money on something other than them. Now I put brackets around "government" because of course, the government has no money. It takes money from people - not THESE people of course - but people like me, and uses it for various purposes. Our society has reached a state where people who can most aptly be classified as vermin feel outrage and indignation that other people, people who work, are choosing to not spend every single available dime on them, that is, on the vermin. It's as if I were outraged that my neighbor chose to buy a boat rather than giving me the money. The thought would simply never occur to me. However, we've so coddled these types, made so many endless excuses for the pathetic and miserable failure of their lives (NEVER their fault of course) that such people feel hard done by, rather than grateful we're keeping the miserable wretches from starving to death in the cold.

That the vermin feels it can gather together, wearing masks and carrying clubs, and assault people and destroy property as part of their "protest" is another indication of how far we've sunk in coddling such people. We all know, of course, that none of them will really be punished for such behaviour - and they know it too. Only a few were arrested, and most of those will be released, probably with an apology. A few will get stern talkings to by the court, and then will simply go out and high five their unwashed brethren and move on to their next protest.

Such vermin infest our society, particularly out in Vancouver, and rather than being exterminated, or at least, put to work somewhere useful, we continue to treat them as if they were actual productive human beings. It truly is a statement on the degenerate state of our society - and particularly, Vancouver's society, right out there for all the world to witness.

You know, if they held an Olympics in one of the world's poorer, more wretched countries, where masses of people live in tin shacks in slums, struggling to survive, there'd be no such protests. Those poor people don't think the world owes them a living, and would probably be quite supportive. Difference in attitude, I suppose.

Aren't you a government worker? What exactly do you contribute?

Anyway you know what is worse? People like you who talk about other human being as though they were "vermin" it's disgusting. It is always so pathetic to watch people complain about people who complain. Nice job being a hypocrite.

I have read disgusting statements here, and many have come from you. But calling human beings vermins AND suggesting their extermination... ignored

Yes people are vermin, trash, and scum. However, my definition of vermin, trash and scum may be different than other peoples. I am happy you have found your way to the government tit and is sucking it to your definition of upper middle class status. Canada is a conundrum as the Government Class rapes and plunders the Private Sector Class. Canada is politically structured for those close to government/political parties to suck cock. Do it well enough you may get a senate appointments or high placements in one of the departments controlled by the party of the day. The problem with Canada's simpleminded Government workers and bird brained politicians is they have been schooled and owned by the US in their economic raping of the world. The US does not collect half the taxes it spends, doing this is their source of inflation. Not only is the US operating this way I am sure they have every economic academian like the CIA I would think evaluating and analyzing the currency trading to manipulate it accordingly. So how does Canada fare in comparison to the US model of economics. Not good, because we have clueless simpletons at the helm who doens't understand the program.

Canada is in a good position geographically and relationship wise with the US but damn when you have tweedle dee (the politicians) and tweedle dum (the government workers) guiding Canada it is no wonder Canada is what it is. Not to worry, the US will drag Canada along as it always has, and treat Canada like its prison bitch while the Government Workers choke the economy with their narrow minded views.

As for the people you look down on, it is really is them telling the politicians and government workers of Canada how simple and clueless they are.

Job 40 (King James Version)

11 Cast abroad the rage of thy wrath: and behold every one that is proud, and abase him.

12 Look on every one that is proud, and bring him low; and tread down the wicked in their place.

13 Hide them in the dust together; and bind their faces in secret.

A proud slave. As a kid the local hicks would greet each other with this line - "Are yah workin" - as if it was a badge of honour to breath plastic fumes or kiss the ass of some creep that saw fit to use up your young muscles and wear out your joints...and one slave would persecute the other and that would keep the whole abusive system going while cruel rich men sat on you like furniture.

One investment banker once said to me regarding the poor in Iraq and Afghanistan - "They are toxic waste" - That is the mentality in a nut shell... It is fine to hand over the wages and pension of a million working poor to bail out some inept banker...who is so inbred and conditioned to social and economic Darwinism - yet when he fails as hundrends of these guys did they expect a welfare cheque...Yet they propogate hate against the poor who shore them up because they are poor in spirit and mind.

Bah. I won't get too excited about a couple dozen hotheaded serial protesters looking for a headline or two. The cops dealt with them and peaceful protesters were then allowed to carry on to make their point. It ain't over yet but if this is the extent of the incidents security staff have to deal with until the closing of the Olympics, I'd say we're very fortunate.

Very properly said and quite civilized. There are ways of being heard without smashing windows and hiding behind a mask. I would not call them hotheaded - just plain stupid and enthrawled like most others with the idea that there are powerful nasty men that run the world and they must counter them with this foolishness - These young ones must understand that they run the world and stop defering the responsibility on to some non-entity that hides like the wizard behind the curtain - there is no one behind the curtain..just you and I.

You're likely right, because their governments wouldn't allow it.

I'm a productive member of society and always have been. And the day I put on a ski mask and gloves, and pick up a club to smash things that don't belong to me because I'm angry at the government you can accuse me of hypocrisy.

Ofcourse, that presumes you even know what the term means, which, from what I can gather from your numerous snivelling posts, is unlikely.

I have no love lost for "professional protesters", who only see the poor as a cause, or more exactly an excuse for what is nothing more than vadalism. That being said, the police handled things properly. Kudos to them.

These types also stand for a strong and union-protected civil service, which provides your living. I'm sure you can see why some of us here are confused, as the tone of your language makes one wonder if you realize which side your bread is buttered on.

Argus, you have no idea what you're talking about. There's poor people. Then there is the type of horrendously poor and homeless and drug users like those that reside in Vancouver's downtown lower east side. You, along with most of us here, have absolutely no clue the horror and pain these people have gone through in their lives. Many of them were abused as children or came from despicable homes altogether.

I wonder how "whiny" you'd be if you're dad was giving you blowjobs when you were 5 years old. Get a clue.

Who are you targeting protestors or homeless drug addicted scum? As for you being apart of the productive side of economics -You work in government. That has to be some form of a joke! What has government done for Canadians other than over tax them and prostitute them and sell them out to the world for who? Tyrnanical employers and banks.

I'm pretty sure those protesters you're pissed off at are so pissed off themselves because they have reason to believe the government is just as mean-spirited as you at heart.

I think you provide good evidence of the trickle down effect that I often mention, I have little doubt the government C-suite you answer to feels much the same way and so on up the line right to the very top.

Argus was a government employee under the warm-n-fuzzy Liberals too... I don't think his outlook is any different today than it was at the time.

I don't think the turd-stains wrecking stuff in Vancouver have anything to do with the poor. I think they're just a bunch of angry idiots who want to destroy things.

I don't think the Liberals are anywhere near as warm-n-fuzzy as advertised. The results of their policies are indistinguishable from the Conservatives, from where I'm sitting at least.

I think you're right about the turd-stains but the legitimate protesters have a point.

And fortunately, I don't think the government IS as mean-spirited as Argus is. They just don't care that much. Argus DOES care...in that he is obsessively aggrived by some sinsiter entity he perceives as "the left."
