You're cynical. That's it. If BPA is in sex toys and it's unhealthy, why wouldn't you want government legislation in place for that?

There should be a reason other than perhaps to make a law. There needs some research first.

Secondly, your article about men's use of vibrators does not indicate whether the question was posed that they were using it on themselves. It says straight men used them during foreplay and intercourse, which does not necessarily mean they were applying the vibrator to themselves.

Imagination isn't your strong suit is it?

Regardless, vibrators with BPA in them are unsafe for anyone that uses them, which is why those women don't sell them.

Find someone who does.

Sure, this is good exposure for their business, but why can't it also be an important issue as well?

Might be like drumming up outrage for the use of lead in make up...

Obviously if they recognize a problem, which you haven't done anything to show doesn't exist, why wouldn't they be trying to do something about it?

Not up for me to prove something doesn't exist.

There can be a genuine problem here and a business opportunity together. That you would completely ignore the problem because you're cynical about the motives of the politician involved and the businesswomen that brought up the issue is ridiculous. All you're doing is taking attention away from the actual problem so you can sling mud. It doesn't matter who uses the products, it doesn't matter that the women make money off BPA-free products, and it doesn't matter that the politician is looking to raise her exposure. There's a real problem that exists and ignoring that because you're too cynical to see past the business-savvy and political-savvy of those women is truly disappointing. There's no need for mockery. It pains me to know that people would ignore health and safety issues because they're too tied up in partisan bull.

So far, there is no proof there is a problem, hence I think it is merely for publicity. That some have swallowed hook line and sinker suggests it has worked.

Well there you go. At least you admit that perhaps there should be research into the problem. I'm not saying that a law ought to be passed without thought, investigation, or research into the problem. They ought to look into the issue before passing any law, rather than writing legislation all will-nilly like.

I used to get some great research from an old Canadian broad out of Toronto on cable.

She had a sex toy segment on each show with lube, but I guess her rating dried up!

What's with the obsession with all things Canadian?

And yet they apparently have a lot of kids, whereas the more liberated left don't seem to have very many at all.

That's because we constantly are having abortions.

I'm her constituent and this issue doesn't make any difference to me either way. Let's hope the giggle factor stays low on this one.

Cancer isn't a laughing matter. Having a dildo do you in 10 years down the road would sorta suck.

Although people still smoke, maybe some people quit when they were reminded that they can cause birth defects in children, chronic illness and cancer of both smokers and those who interact with or are near smokers. While people still smoke, having an informed public about safety concerns is no laughing matter. If there is conclusive evidence of toys containing lead causing problems, a dildo is no different.

I can't quite figure out what the problem is here. She's complaining about the BPA's in the plastics of sex toys. Okayyy. Yes, they were banned from baby bottles, etc. But as I recall that was because prolonged exposure of the food within allowed the BPA's to kind of seep into the food. Now I don't have an awful lot of familiarity with sex toys, but my understanding is they're used for a few minutes and then tucked away in the night drawer. I don't see the same problem as there is with baby bottles and water jugs here. I mean, people aren't eating dildos are they? (and yes, I can imagine the levity that question might bring)

Ever watch porn. There are some industries which may have regular contact. Also a babies casual contact is potentially no different than multiple feedings each day. Fact is dildos are used internally and can interact with fluid flow. I think though that you are on the right track, if the BPA's increase the chance of adverse health effects considerations on alternatives should be looked into, and when available reasonably the worse product should be banned due to health issues - and other issues.

I pulled this from another site

"Bisphenol A is a hormone disruptor. Studies have linked low-dose BPA exposure with such effects as: permanent changes to genital tract; increase prostate weight; decline in testosterone; breast cells predisposed to cancer; prostate cells more sensitive to hormones and cancer; and hyperactivity."

No good at all.

Now can anyone imagine Harper risking his own brand to both do something positive about the issue AND point out the lack of political courage Ignatieff showed by deciding to ignore it? I suppose in this scenario we could expect to see Ignatieff attacking Harper's obvious amorality and lack of family values. <_<

Harper is only about big business and the party not about making the lives of Canadians Healthier and Happier.

No proof of a problem, I think you are being blindly ignorant. There is tons of medical evidence that it is health adverse. The sex toys are really only a little peice of the puzzle - all use in Injested or Internal Body Products should be outright banned! The compound is horrible. I don't want to be casually interacting with hormone disrupters on a daily basis, I like my hormones all natural not screwed up due to chemical leaching from the foods I consume. It's bad enough having to drink womens excreated estrogen due to the expanded use of birth control pills. And I don't mean oral, I mean tap water. Leaves the dilema, do I drink the toxins in the tap water, or the toxins in the bottled water?

The last thing I want is having my balls choped off due to drinking bottled water for the last decade.

Krikey! I wonder how much estrogen I have been ingesting all these years, and I don't even drink tap water!
