Tories take Elections Canada to court

Stephen Harper's Conservatives are in another legal battle with Elections Canada - and this time the federal Tories are demanding that the election watchdog take their money.

The Conservative Party of Canada has launched a suit at the Ontario Superior Court to force Elections Canada to accept a refund cheque from the Tories for almost $600,000.

Of course, if successful, the cash-flush Conservatives would also ensure that their poorer Liberal opponents have to refund similar - if not larger - sums.

More game playing on the part of the Tories, it seems.

Reading the article, it does seem to make sense - seems straight forward, actually.

What makes more sense: that a bunch of trained people at Elections Canada screwed up the way they calculate hundred-thousand-dollar rebates, or that the most partisan government we've had in decades is just flinging faeces and seeing what sticks?

But a judge will decide, and either the Conservatives will win, or they'll assail the judge for being a Liberal plant and appeal.

Yeah, because it's not as though the federal Liberals have ever been involved in any type of funding/money scandals, right?

It took only three elections for the Tories to bring this up. Seriously. It looks like a game on their part. It isn't like they haven't done this before.

Nope. Neither have the Conservatives ever tried to take money away from other parties.

If you mean the elimination of tax dollars to all political parties (even Conservatives), that could be otherwise used for healthcare and education, then yes. But that's far different from the Liberal money scandals of the past, and apparently present.

Anyone who watches politics knows of course that that tax money going to political parties is there because of a trade off that was done to make our system far more honest.....well apparently Conservatives don't.

Since when did fascism want fairness? Harper wants power. Period. Harper wanted to remove our ballot's monetary value because he wanted to reduce his competition's funding. Peter Mackay was ordered to eat seal meat recently in front of the camera because they observed that the action gained political points.

Unfortunately, they were a bit late for the dinner. Posers, really.

Harper's watched too much American TV; wants to take everyone to court now.

Idiotic.
