Topaz Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 The government is now bailing out the pig farmer's to either get out of the business or to downsize. I, personally, have no problem with this because its the government polices over the years that has lead to this, BUT, why didn't they also bailout the tobacco farmer's the same deal? If you are going to bailout one industry than you can't refuse another, and I wondering if anyone can tell me if the grow tobacco in the west? Quote
Wilber Posted August 16, 2009 Report Posted August 16, 2009 Never heard of tobacco being grown out west but what do I know. Marijuana seems to be much more profitable. I do believe there have been government programs to help tobacco farmers switch to other crops. Quote "Never trust a man who has not a single redeeming vice". WSC

Molly Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 (edited) http://www.lfpress.ca/newsstand/News/Local...01/6329436.html That's just last year. Searching back to 1980 or so would provide a string of similar initiatives. BTW, that's quite a bit more money than the $75 million presently offered to hog farmers. $211 million more, to be exact. Oleg Bach Posted August 17, 2009 Report Posted August 17, 2009 I wonder how many switched to growing pig feed or raising pigs? They grind up second rate chicken and pig to be used as feed at fish farms.... and cows are cannibalized by other cows - and the public is led to believe that is the transmission of some virus or bacteria - when it's the ill effects of cannibalism..You can't get something for nothing -there is always a price to be paid..and the outcome in the end might just be Mad Human disease.
